“Wonderful location - awful experience”
Reviewed 27 April 2012

Me and my friend stayed here one night in a backpackers room in March 2012. When we arrived at night we were wondering what sounds we were hearing (later found that out: the big waves). We were surprised that this guest house is situated right on the beach. It has a wonderful view on the sea. The restaurant and small garden look very cozy as well. Room was basic, but had a nice atmosphere. Mosquito nets on the bed could not close properly, so they had no function.

However, my whole experience is ruined by the 'boat service' recommended by the staff. Me and my friend (young female travellers) 'booked' what was called by the staff a 'shuttle to Gili Trawangan' on a ' tourist boat'. It turned out to be a lie. We were just taken by an old van and dropped close to the public boat harbor (but we did not know that), fooled by the people who said they would take us on the boat (they were talking in a very agressive way), forced to travel with a cimodo because the men told us the 'boat' would leave soon (little did we know that the harbor was only a short distance away) and later just dropped at the public boat. Paid an awful lot of money just for a transfer to the public boat which costs only 10,000 rupiah. So normally I would say I recommend this guest house, because of the nice atmosphere and location. Now that I know that the staff is involved with these kind of scams, I can only say: a waste of a good hotel.

Hello,

We the owners and the staff are very sorry for this event to happen to you and sincerely apologise for advising you on what we now know is a shocking tour operator. It is difficult for us as guests always want the staff to recommend certain services and business's and we cannot guarantee that these operators are going to do the right thing by the tourists. We will in future not be recommending this tour company for any of our guests and thank you for your input.

I stayed for three days with Glen and Dee. What a great place and what a great couple. Nothing was a problem. The bungalows are well presented. The beer is cold and the staff are always happy to have a talk and a laugh. The location is hard to fault and the gardens give a peaceful relaxing feel.
They are currently building another location on Gili Air. I was lucky enough to accompany Glen and his friend Mel the Maniac on a trip over there. The new place looks like being just as good (if not better) than the existing one.
I will happily recommend this place to anyone who wants a great holiday.

The Beach Club is located an hours drive from Lombok airport, drivers are waiting at the airport exit offering transport. The hotel is built beach front with direct access to the water they also have a pool which is highly maintained and surrounded by a beautiful garden which has been well thought out and adds to the tranquillity of the place. There are many shaded areas to sit or lay around the pool as well as in the sun. You can escape to read or sit by yourself in several secluded areas around the hotel with stunning views of the sea and the
surrounding islands.
There are 4 bungalows each with a queen bed and room for an extra single bed if needed the rooms are spotless and modern with ceiling fan,air con, tv, dvd and fridge.
The bathrooms are attached and outside they look amazing (straight from a magazine) We travelled 2 adults and 2 kids (16 & 17) and stayed in bungalow 1 & 4. Bungalow 1 has beach views from windows and balcony Bungalow 4 looks over the pool area. A hammock is provided for use on each balcony a great spot to chill.
Our hosts Glenn & Dee (originally from Melbourne Aust) and their staff made us feel at home on arrival nothing was too much trouble. The food was great and inexpensive beer was always cold and service first class always with a smile . One of the highlights was sitting on the beachfronts having a drink or two watching the post card sunsets. It felt like we had our own private Villa at a fraction of the price. Can’t wait to return 3 nights was not long enough. Our trips to Bali will now always include Lombok staying at the Beach Club and their new hotel in Gilli Air. We will be highly recommending this place to our families and friends in Australia.

Room Tip: Bungalow 1 has sea views others all excellent

We (two adults and two kids) travelled to the Beach Club after staying 10 days at a five star resort in Legian, Bali and were pleasantly surprised at the bungalows, facilities and beautiful gardens. It was a complete change from the hustle and bustle of Bali and we found it thoroughly relaxing. The owners, Dee and Glenn were extremely friendly and welcoming and the staff likewise and couldn't do enough for us. The bungalows are very comfortable and have everything you need - TV, DVD, comfortable bed and air conditioning and I loved the outside bathroom. Most importantly it has great food and the Bintang was served up just how it should be - icy cold! Whilst the menu is not extensive, everything we tried was really good and well priced - bacon and eggs at 1500 rp ($1.50) and the burgers are highly recommended.

The pool is a good size and there a plenty of places to pull up a lounge chair or hammock to sit back and relax or read a book. There a four dogs on site, a fish pond with turtles and a parrott which kept the kids entertained. The beach is clean, there are a few hawkers who hang around on the beach - but after 10 days in Bali we knew how to haggle with them and we picked up some bargains.

Location wise the Beach Club is located a short taxi ride (will cost you about $1.50) to the main strip of Sengiggi. We had a meal at a German restaurant and we all had the schnitzels. Great food and highly recommended! Can't remember the name of the restaurant but ask Glenn as he recommended it.

This place is a must for the weary traveller or those looking for a relaxing break from it all and is great value for money. The only downside here is we didn't stay long enough!! We only had three nights but will definately return one day and also include a stay on the villas currently being built on Gili Air Island by the same owners. Thanks to everyone at the Beach Club for making our stay such an enjoyable one.

Room Tip: Bungalow one is in the prime position, right next to the beach. We stayed in bungalows two and thre...

This was our second visit to the Beach Club. Service, location, food, and room were all excellent. The hotel is located in a quiet part of Lombok, even though near the busy Senggigi shopping area.
Our first visit was for 4 days. Our second for five days.
Transport from the hotel to shopping and sightseeing very easy.
Staff were exceptionally accomodating to our requests and needs.
We certainly plan to return, hopefully for longer periods.

Room Tip: All of the bungalows are fine. I don't think there are any "bad" rooms. We had no ex...

During my second visit at TheBeachClub I was lucky to stay for more than
2 weeks in the highly demanded bungalow which is located directly at the beach and it looks like recently renovated and wet paint! Let me say it in this way: It struck me as a very positive impression that nothing has changed!
Any news?
Now they provide their guests who like relaxing on the beach really comfortable wooden loungers with cotton mattresses and every day Adi – or somebody else of the team - takes a rake and sweeps up all the flotsam and jetsam on the beach.
No need being repetitive and to list all the positive things again and again about this place. It’s just a perfect place and when I return in summertime I’m very curious about the new “sister hotel” on Gili Air which was still under construction in march.
Just a hint: If you wanna go to Senggigi or any other place by taxi,
you have only to cross the road and after 100m you find a taxi stand
of the “Blue Bird Group”. And “terima kasih banyak” (thanks a lot) to the whole team of TheBeachClub because everybody was always helpful!

We stayed here for 3 nights in January 2012. It was our first time at the beach club and were surprised at how gorgeous the little bungalows were. However we were disappointed at the continual black outs which Lombok is renowned for but due to the beach clubs generator being down meant that we were greatly affected by it. I think we should have been advised of the generator being down before arriving so we had the choice to book somewhere else. Cheap room rate but with no power and no air conditioning or fan made a nice bungalow into a sweat box. Then to make matters worse 2 of the 3 days spent there we were without hot water which was also blamed on no generator. We won't be returning to the Beach Club.

We are so very sorry you had such a disappointing time at The Beach Club, we are very sorry also that you won't return. Our Generator will be repaired as soon as the weather clears from the cyclone and the ferries are back online and deliver the parts from Java. This has been an unfortunate event for us also and we cannot say sorry enough for this happening to you. Regards, Dee & Glenn
