This four day hike was a treat!! Each day we experienced something different and then what a treat to have a delicious meal and comfortable bed so that we were fresh for the next day of hiking. The first day is quite difficult and long but the stunning views of the Botrivier and Theewater Valley and seeing the spectacular King Proteas in their natural environment make it all worthwhile. The days that followed had us meandering through wine and fruit farms and tastings wines from the area. Our guide Andreas and his assistant John were very interesting and passionate about what they did. Thank you to Tony and Char from Porcupine Hills and Alison from Widlekrans for making this a memorable and highly recommended experience.

“A hike revisited”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014

My spouse and I had done this hike previously in 2010 however, I think we enjoyed it even more this second time around. What makes this hike so special is the personal touch that everyone involved in the Green Mountain Trail brings to it, especially the woman who is one of the Trail's founders and now, "Cheerleader in Chief". Alison Green has made this project her own and she does a superb job of making every guest feel not only welcome but valued and special. This comes on top of a fabulous hiking experience accompanied by equally fabulous wine tastings at or by local wine farms. A perfect combination. Congratulations to Alison and all the guides, wine farm personnel, B&B staff who make this such a special adventure.

“Up, close and personal with the fynbos”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2014

Early in March 2014 our small group of four from Kenya and Ireland experienced at close range the beauty of the fynbos and the amazing variety of plants on the mountainsides near the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve by booking a four day hiking trip with Green Mountain Trail. Our stay at 200 year old Wilderkrans was memorable thanks to our wonderful hostess Alison and her amazing team. Our guide Andreas was enthusiastic and knowledgable and our visits to the various vineyards well planned. An unforgettable holiday! Paris I

“Amazing Hike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 April 2014

We just got back from the Green Mountain hike last week. Fabulous. Everything from the accommodation at both Porcupine Hill and Wildekrans, all of the meals, including the final lunch with a swim at Beaumont, the wine tastings and the hosts at each place, were excellent. And we certainly felt that we were entitled to all of the delicious food and wine after hiking for 14 to 18 km in the mountains each day.
Our main guide, Andreas, was brimming with knowledge on all of the flora, fauna and geology of the region and was absolutely infectious in his enthusiasm to share this with us as were his two co-guides, John and Mr. Holt. Even a day and a half of drizzle at the start did not dampen the spirits of any of the hikers. Thank you very much to Alison Green for creating such an amazing experience.
