I stayed in the Drones Cottage for 3 nights at the beginning of September 2010 with my Mum and my Aunt. We each had our own room and every one of us was impressed with the high standard of accommodation, and indeed with the whole cottage. The cottage looks like a tastefully decorated show home and was spotlessly clean (I’m sure Sonya, the owner, must have hand polished the cutlery!) We all agreed that we could easily move in and live their quite happily. Sonya has thought of and supplied everything you could possibly need, and more – beautiful bedding, lovely soft fluffy towels, full dinner set, pots and pans, coffee maker, food mixer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, DVDs, not to mention a mobile phone for making local calls or to call her if you need anything else. I had also requested a shower seat, which she provided. The highlight though was the welcome hamper. Expecting just some tea, coffee and milk, it also included bread, butter, jam, cookies, ham, cheese, orange juice, sweeties, crisps – most welcome after our journey over from Scotland!
The Armoy cottages are in a relatively quiet spot with a large garden, ideal for kids to play in (we watched for the wild rabbits each day), but are only 2 minutes drive to Armoy itself and about 15/20 minutes to Ballycastle. Belfast is an hour away and Derry/Londonderry is about 1 hour 15 minutes drive.
All 3 of us have been enthusing about the cottage since our return home and I will definitely be back.
