“Good hotel”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

It was the second time in railay, but the first at the Sunrise, i think the hotel was really nice, with good rooms, well cleaned, the swiming pool could be better, but with those beaches who needs pools?
The breakfast was enough with a good buffet.
The hotel it's a little expensive for a country like thailand but in Railay all the things increase their prices.
Next time in railay I will stay here again.

Room Tip: All the room are very nice

We arrived at the east-beach just outside the hotel and got our suite with bathtub, the biggest bongalows I believe. At first glance the suite looked very nice, but when we looked a bit more on the equipment we were very surprized that a well rated hotel where we stayed at the most expensive alternative had such low standard. The shower was located outside and was very nice but always full of lizzards, spiders and sometimes even monkeys. We had to make shure the shower dor was locked with key or we could experience our room being taired down by monkeys. The bathtub bas broken avd the floor of the entire suite so dirty we always had to wear flip-flops inside. This is normal Thaistandard though, we just wouldn´t expect it in the nicer hotels. Location was very good but hotel food horrible.!

It is located in the east side, very close to the west beach and Prangang Beach (for me the most beautiful beach in Railay). Breakfast buffet is great, the stuff are nice, the rooms are very modern and comfortable, nice pool. It was expensive for us, but looking the cheap hotels in Railay and the opinion of the people this was an excellent choice for us for 3 days.

We booked there last summer and the truth is that the villas are huge and beautifull.... The rest is really not worth it! The villa was full of mosquitos, BRING tons of repellent!! The beautifull gardens get full of big agresive monkeys at dawn.
But the worst things were the food & beverage offer and the room service. Forget alcohol..... Since its a muslim region they dont serve alcohol!!!!! Incredible!!
Its a pitty that the staff are not more proactive and helpfull!! The management should do something about it

We stayed at Sunrise Tropical for 2 nights of a 14 day trip thru Thailand and it was only at Sunrise that we encountered rude, unwelcoming attitudes from all employees that worked there. The resort is also very outdated. The rudest awakening came when we needed to take a long tail boat to catch a ferry. There was about thirty people that needed this service and we had to walk a couple of hundred yards through waste deep water carrying our own suitcases on our shoulders just to get on the long tails. . They have a pier there and also a tractor with a flat bed trailer that could have been used. Avoid at all costs and just go straight to Koh Phi Phi

Service was fantastic. We came I'm by boat during a huge downpour and we were soaking, they have us towels and sugar cane juice when we arrived and it we were so thankful for their hospitality. Gave us a room at the bottom of the main lodging building (there are hotel style rooms and villas), but ours had a little veranda if you will with a bench and a small table so it was almost like we were staying at a villa. Also had some drying racks for clothes outside which were very necessary. Rooms were huge and very nice as were the bathrooms.
However, the beds definitely had sand or something in them and it's hard to say if they beds were cleaned. The shower did not drain properly and actually filled up to almost ankle height with water because of this. The pressure was not good and it was difficult to get hot water.
Loved the location as it was really close to Railay East's restaurants and bars where we spent most of our time. It is also closer to Phra Nang beach which is the best one on the island. Lots of things to do in the area at night. If railay west and it's overpriced food and drinks is more your scene then it's only a 10 min walk through one of the footpaths. The beach there is also quite decent but you can only go when it's not high tide as it gets quite rough out there. East side has no beach to speak of but I thought it was just as beautiful.

Re\ally nice comfortable villas that are very reasonably priced. Breakfast was always of good quality and overlooking the little bay where the boats come in was very peaceful. The beach on this side of the peninsula are not worthwhile but you are very close to the best restaurants etc. The beaches on the other side are spectacular and are only a 5 minute walk - at most.
