We booked this on the spot as my friend and I looked at every other beach in W Railay. We choose this place as the rates were great for the service and accommodation. We got a standard room close to the pool and beach. Great experience!!! I would definitely come here again!!

We found a great deal when booking, the older rooms are little cheaper and still nice with AC. Overall the hotel is quite and nice, has two really nice pools and a good view of the beach. The downfall no alchohol sold on the property and the restaurant is a bit pricey. Good thing is you can buy alcohol down the street and bring it on to the property, and for food you can go down to the walking street or other side of island for better prices..

Who on eart can write a possitive review of Sand Sea resort and Railay beach in general. What a horrible dreadful place.

Railay beach is far over rated, it's not a hidden gem at all. It's a tourist dump with locals who could not care less about you.

The hotel is no different. Staff is absolutely not interested, not motivated. The word appalling came to my mind.

The breakfast is a disgrace, dirty and cheap. And I can still remember the moody desinterested faces of the staff.

In the evening nobody eats at the hotel restaurant. (Next door is less bad)

The pool is ok, but not up to standard considering the price per night your paying.

Some idiot left the maintenance lit of the pool filter system open. Resulting in a 2 meter deep square pit next to the pool. My kids ball fell into it... don't even want to think what would have happend if my kid felt into it.

In short: by all means skip Sand Sea resort and Railay beach (and if possible Krabi) if your into enjoying a holiday.

Take my word for it

We arrived by longboat and got dropped off at the beach, we had to jump off the boat and wade through the water to the beach which was ok for us but maybe not for those with limited mobility. We found our hotel and we were taken on a buggy to our room. The bungalow room was large, modern and bright with a nice bathroom it was quite luxurious definitely a four star, lots of bats flew past our patio at dusk ever evening. Breakfast was adequate with fresh fruit omelettes, bread cereal etc. The pool area and gardens were very pretty squirrels in the trees, pool was in the shade which was a nice to cool off in as it is hot in February. Restaurant food not that great but ok for burger meals or similar. Staff not bad. Location perfect looking out onto the lovely Railay West beach, you can sunbathe while looking at the fantastic view. So glad I stayed in this area as Railay East is smelly and tacky. Railay is a quiet island not much going on not for partygoers, but it is really beautiful and the Phra nang beach is absolutely spectacular, I saw spectacled languars and crab eating macaques on my way there. I am glad I visited Railay but for me Koh Phi Phi is the best. Overall this hotel is a good choice and very good value for money for those on a limited budget.

Room Tip: The bungalows appear the best choice

The location could not be any better; West Railay is like a paradise, I am so glad I booked west not the east side of Railay;

Restaurant is on the beach, having a breakfast or lunch there- a pleasure and a real luxury;
Sunsets are spectacular; Hotel has everything in place, nice spa- massage, kayak hire, travel kiosk;

I am glad I did not booked any tours over the internet; Hotel has a great choice of tours reasonably priced;

Breakfast is good.

For the launch and dinner, however we picked the neighbor hotel, which is Railay Village resort;
We were with two teenagers’ daughter and I booked two grand deluxe rooms. I am happy about that as they has internal doors and we had a lot of space and privacy for us and children had a lot of space as well;

As Railay is separated from Ao Nang, it is quite safe; It is like an island; I feel very safe and let my children to be on their own;

Swimming pool is very nice;

In general, I had a very good impression and would recommend to anyone;

Nothing to do with a hotel but we had some dramas getting from Ao Nang to Railay;

I would recommend to the hotel to advertise the transfer from airport to hotel;

To get to the hotel from airport in Krabi I booked krabi shuttle (www.krabishuttle.com);

I bitterly regretted about that and that spoiled us the whole travel to Thailand; The driver brought us to the beach with no boats around and it took us 3.5 hours in total to get from airport to the Sand sea;

Do not make the same mistake as me- do not deal with krabi shuttle altogether.

I highly recommend booking a hotel transfer. On our way back we booked it- and loved it;

So comfortable; they have a luxury van, from the pier to the boat there was a tractor so we did not have to get wet;
Total time getting from reception to airport was about 50 minutes;
It cost 1500 BHT for 4 of us; Less than we paid to those damn krabishuttle and their friends with the boat;

If you are not booking a transfer - at least make sure the taxi brings you to Nammao pier which is the best place to get a boat to Railay; Do not let you to get you to the beach and rip off;

The hotel is at walking distance from the main atractions in Railay Beach and the stop point of longtail boats came from the closest beaches and islands. BUT the hotel is definitely NOT the place to stay. First, they should inform that is a muslim hotel that don’t sell alcohol. That is a surprise to all guests at check in. The team has not good english and not well prepared for hospitality. The room looks dirty all the time, I think is the floor tale but anyway is desgusting. The bathroom is CRAP, dirty, old and has a teeeerrible shower. The pool is ok! Definitely, if you’re coming to Railay Beach, make yourself a favor and search other better places at the same price.

Room Tip: Try to get a room near the center pool. Is quiet and pleasant.
