Railay Princess Resort and Spa

We had a room in blok 1, rooms looked quite new, and they where of good quality. The hotel is nicely located, right on the east beach, and a few mins walk to the west beach. The pools where nice, and the rooms nice and clean.Beds where very nice! There where some noise during the day from construction, but only during the day when we for the most was out and about.
The breakfast is ok, but the service in the resturant is very slow. We waited 50 minuts for a pizza! The day we where leaving we had to leav by boat at 17, so we checked out and the hotel to care of our bags, and lent us a room for shower for free before we where leaving, wich was really nice.

Room Tip: Block 1 was really great, the lower floor is very open to people walking by.

Positives

- the room was a good size, nicely fitted out, though the bathrooms are in need of a serious upgrade (or at the very least, a good clean) as we did spot a cockroach in ours;

- good value for money in comparison with other resorts nearby (about £50 per night);

- the two pools were stunning and we found sun beds each day very easily;

- located on Railay East, which is not a useable beach, but has a certain charm when the tide comes in around the mangroves and has a walkway along leading to numerous restaurants; the main beach on Railay West is a short (but smelly!) walk away, but worth a visit especially at sunset which is very beautiful (though be prepared for crowds);

- the restaurant for breakfast and lunch was fine, though on one occasion they did forget our burger (despite us being one of only 3 tables being used) and served up a very undercooked burger which we had to send back;

Negatives

- THE STENCH - having travelled extensively in third world African countries I can honestly say the smell in certain parts of the hotel is worse than anything I've ever before experienced; not sure if it's a short term issue or a bigger problem with the sewage system in the area, but was extremely unpleasant;

- the bathroom (as noted above);

- on one occasion, despite the Do Not Disturb sign being on, the cleaning staff tried to enter our room.

This place is amazing. Our view from balcony was crazy (see picture) Stayed here for 5 days and was perfect. The room is spacious and bathroom if perfect with the best shower ever. Good aircon and Wi-fi was (almost always) good.

We were in room in building 3 top floor what I do think had the best view and is close to reception.

The pool is beautiful and never busy (probably because people near to reception use other pool)
I haven't tried the restaurant as I liked going to smaller places!

I will be back someday to enjoy this place again :)

Thanks for everything

Room Tip: I would think rooms with number 3 are the best (top floor)

In short: The service was great. Check in and check out took us a minute even though they had many guests checking in and out at the same time. We ate at the restaurant almost every meal because they were very considerate to the fact that I have severe gluten intolerance, and they did the best to understand and provide what I needed. Most of the parts of this hotel are quite new and with great standard. The pool was clean and the surroundings of the pool really made us feel that we were in paradise. Don't trust all the reviews of "living on the west side" (of Railay) are the best, because it certainly isn't. I think east side is the best because here it's completely calm on one hand but also super close to the best bars and hang outs, as well as a short walking distance to the view point. I can actually only say one bad thing about this hotel and that is that the beds are really hard. I myself am a great believer in solid hard beds, but these were rock hard. But after days of climbing, canoeing, snorkeling - I slept like a baby anyway! I really do recommend for everyone to stay here! Enjoy!

The place is very basic and has all the things that one would look for staying, but there is nothing fancy about this place.

Things I liked:
1- breakfast, very generous amounts.
3- For Muslims, they had halaal food.
2- rooms are ok, very basic.

Things I didn't like:
1- stinky area around a central pond they have.
2- cleaning staff didn't arrive on time.
3- construction work going on and made noise.
4- they could make the place look very beautiful, but it is not... f
3- WiFi was an issue, didn't work. A lot of people complained

Needs a lot of improvement.....

Room Tip: try to choose a room near reception area, they look very nice. The rooms towards the back are out of...

We couldn't have been happier about our first hotel stay following our long 30 hour travel journey from California. I traveled with two girlfriends in January 2014, and while it wasn't the cheapest hotel on Railay, it far exceeded our expectations for the price. The rooms were very clean, spacious, and everything seemed very new/nice/updated. The breakfast spread was unbelievable! My only qualms were that the bed was one of the hardest I encountered in all of my time in Thailand, the A/C was actually too intense (i know, how could you complain about that? but really, it was freezing at night we all had to completely bundle up or else sweat it out not using AC), and there was a certain stench coming from somewhere (not sure where) when we would walk from our room to the lobby, always. Other than that, we loved our experience at the hotel! Seemed quite luxurious for the price. Would definitely recommend and stay here again :)

Hotel is located on Railay East, which is about 10 mins walk from the nicer railay west beach. Clean, large room, service is ok. Downside is that the view is not the best, no sandy beach in railay east, just swamp. Would recommend to stay at railay west instead.
