“Very good location”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Average hotel in a very good location.
The beaches are 10 minutes walk. You can also take the boat to other islands not far from there.
In the hotel there are two different buildings, one new and the other one probably 20 years old.
The old block is far from being nice.
The new one is good enough, nothing exceptional.
There are two very nice swimmingpool areas.
The breakfast is very good and the staff helpful and friendly.
Good relation, price/location/service.

The hotel is very nice, comfortable and safe. Breakfast was also included in the price and its a help yourself buffet. Room was spacious with a nice big bathroom, 2 single beds, enough space to move around. the only issues was that shower was leaking and flooding the bathroom floor. We have tried to explain this to the maintenance people but they did not seem to understand what the issue was.
Wifi was rather sketchy as well. Seemed to work around pool area or a reception but even that was a bit of a hit and miss sometimes.

Clean and comfortable, nice pool and decent price for railay which has few cheaper options (unless you go very basic). Railay itself is a bit of a dump, there is construction everywhere and rubbish on the streets. The immediate surroundings of the hotel were not pleasant, but if you want to visit these beautiful beaches then this is a decent place to stay. It's big and impersonal but everywhere nearby seems to be the same.

We booked a cheap deal on Agoda to stay at this hotel and it hasn't disappointed. The rooms are really lovely, with all the amenities you would expect from a top hotel in the UK. Service is fantastic as are the facilities.

The journey to get here is a bit grim as the port is really dirty and we had to wade through water up to our waist to get onto the long tail boat. We demanded they moved the boat into the beach when we got to Railay.

The hotel is a ten minute walk from the main beach. The beach isn't amazing so if you plan to come here I would suggest booking a hotel with a good pool.

The views from the hotel pool are amazing. Prices are slightly higher but with the added amenities you get with this hotel it is worthwhile.

I read many of the reviews and was a bit worried. I have stayed in Railey a couple of times and knew that this might not be the best location since it is on the mangrove side. I have in the past experienced a smell on that side of Railey, but my stay at the Princess was close to perfect. I found that the location was actually better then west Railey since I only spent time on the beach for photos and sunsets. Otherwise I was out enjoying all the sea there has to offer or lounging by the pool. The location of the Princess was actually easier for evening activities as most of the restaurants and bars are nearby. We stayed in the older rooms and they were very clean and comfortable. No one in our group had anything negative to say about their room. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I have seen anywhere in Thailand. Also the staff were very helpful and friendly. I think that if you really have anything to complain about this hotel, then you are probably the type of person that can't be pleased. I don't think you can fault the hotel for the tides going out.

Room Tip: I stayed on the second floor of the older wing over looking the pool.

We stayed at the Railay Princess in late March 2014. Overall, it was a pleasant stay but it would be very difficult to have an unpleasant time in Railay as it's such a beautiful place!

First, the rooms are very basic. Our bed was not very comfortable (even by Thai standards). The bathroom was on the dirty side. The tap water was very salty so of course, plan to brush teeth and maybe even wash your face with bottled water. However, the A/C worked well and our room was quiet. Housekeeping was prompt and they always brought plenty of bottled water. WiFi worked in our room but was told that some others had issues with that.

The grounds of the property were beautiful and well kept. We visited both pools and they were clean and very nice. I recommend grabbing morning coffee and visiting the rooftop infinity pool for sunrise -- it's truly breathtaking.

Note that the hotel is on East Railay which is heavily impacted by low tide. The water that you expect to be there just goes away and turns into a big mud pit. Don't be alarmed because West Railay and other beautiful beaches are just a few minutes walk.

Overall, I would recommend.

Room Tip: The rooms closer to the office are recently updated -- I'd request one of those, if possible.

The Railay Princess Resort is a good basic hotel but access to it involved a long-tail boat ride with no tractor/trailer to meet us and the tide was out so we had to jump into thigh-deep water with luggage and wade through mud to get to the walkway. Lengthy walk to the hotel in wet clothes. One of our group was disabled and this was a dreadful experience for her. We paid the hotel to arrange our return transfer which was expensive but a much more pleasant experience.

Warm welcome at reception with a cooling drink which we were greatly in need of.

Room was a bit confining with a third bed in the room but we managed. Bathroom basic and both the shower and sink seemed to use salty water.

Lovely roof-top pool on the top of the restaurant overlooking the Andaman Sea which had a cooling breeze.

The second pool was located near our room and we tended to use this more frequently - lovely tropical setting overlooking the lake in front of the spa.

Occasionally experienced the smells referred to by other reviewers but thankfully these only seemed to occur when we were outside and seemed to come in waves rather than a persistent smell.

Not much of a beach on this side - much better beach on the West side just a short walk away.
