“Way overpriced and bad standard”
Reviewed 7 December 2013 via mobile

This resort is not even average for that money. We payed 1500. The room was barely aceptable so that we were lucky that we have booked only one night. It is noisy and blood has been on the bed sheets. Personal was not really friendly and the breakfast was accompanied by a lot of cats. We would recommend not to stay there. The way better princess resort is just a five minute walk away. Same price, way better standard.

Dark, dirty and old room. Beds looked disgusting. Stay cut short because of this place and no where else to stay. Monkeys go through this resort which is quite cool. Nothing else to say about this place. I would only pay 1000 baht max per night.

I can just tell everyone not to go to this resort/hotel...

When we arrived the staff members were already unfriendly and didn't speak good English. We first took a look at the A/C room and then decided that we would like to see the cheaper room with fan as well. The guy looked so annoyed when we said we would like to see the other room, thats a NO GO! In tourism and is hospitality you have to be friendly and polite...

We took the A/C room for 1500 Baht (around 35€) and after a nap we saw many bed bugs on the bed and when we squeezed them there were big blood spots. On the linen you could see that there were already blood spots from earlier. So it wasn't the first time that they have this problem.

When we went to the reception we said that we would like to change the room and if they pay for the laundry. We got an other room and he said "change room, here is key, do everything in laundry, no paying" After asking 3 times if they pay for the laundry it was clear for me that it menas we don't need to pay but we got to know later that he meant THEY are not paying.

So we washed ALL our clothes, thats around 500Baht plus the 1500 Baht for the room (dirty bathroom!).

Every single staff member was unfriendly and we didn't feel welcomed at all.

We should have check the Trip Advisor reviews before...

We have just stayed at diamond cave resort in the bungalows next to the pool. We paid 800thb per night (probably should have bartered more as it's low season) but we were happy with what we got.

The bedroom of the bungalow had a really good fan and air con, so we were comfortable. It was quiet as the resort is set back from the main strip of East Beach. There was also satellite TV with some English language channels.

Pros
- comfy, clean bed
- cool
- nice balcony next to the pool
- wifi in the restaurant area and by the pool
- gorgeous and pristine pool area
- good laundry service

Cons
- bathroom a bit scruffy - the tiles were stained from where the water didn't drain properly. There was a constant puddle by the toilet where it didn't drain away.
- breakfast not the greatest. Nice omelette but the noodles and potatoes were cold and stale tasting and there we're ants in the fruit. My husband said the bread wasn't great either (although Thailand isn't exactly well know for it's bread!!)

All in all I would recommend this place but perhaps try and barter them down from 800thb for the aircon bungalow or 600thb for the fan bungalows further back. Especially in low season.

Room had all the basics, a/c, fridge, sheets, kind of clean towels, hot water, some kind of sticky contents sprayed all over the wall. Breakfast was simple. Nice pool. What made this place below average was the management staff. The general staff were nice and friendly with no English. However the main manger was very rude in front of guests, even once having a verbal and slightly physical fight over the use of the free wifi with one potential guest. I wouldn't pay the asking high season price, you would just feel ripped off.

We stayed here for 5 nights, which was only meant to be 2 originally but we loved it so much on Railay! This resort is on the cheaper side of Railay, even so it still wasn't rock bottom prices but we thought 800baht for a little bungalow with breakfast included was reasonable. The swimming pool was really clean and so nice for relaxing, although it loses sunshine in the afternoon because of the huge cliff looming over the side but this isn't that much of a bad thing because you can always go to the gorgeous beach or get a rest from the rays! We found the staff to be nothing but friendly with us especially the restaurant staff. We actually ended up eating at the diamond restaurant nearly every night as the BBQ was good value and so tasty! The breakfast that was included was very good too!

We were warned that this place was going to be filled with cockroaches and whatnot, but we decided to lower our standards because there aren't many options on this island. If you get the double bed hut, it's kinda nice. You get a bed, shower, fridge, and water. Can't really ask for more! Our room was clean, contrary to what we've read and what we've heard. So I can't complain. But be warned that it MIGHT be gross.

We only stayed for one night as well so it wasn't that bad. And the breakfast was freakin' delicious! And the pool was also amazing.

Room Tip: Ask for those hut rooms. And make sure it's just been cleaned. Or walk in and check for cockroac...
