“a castle in the desert”
Reviewed 6 January 2013

Gorgeous situated between sanddunes, quiet, beautiful resort, absolutely beautifully created houses, walkways, stairs, small water channels, all fit together. Inside the hotel is decorated with are many objects of the life of ancient tribes of the desert. Staff is very friendly. The room is furnished in arabic style, I felt like 1001 night, well equipped with Nespresso Coffee machine, water and a comfortable balcony. The bathroom is huge. The pool area is also nicely arranged, many possibilities for lying in the shadow.
The hotel provides also different activities. We've joined a 4wd trip in the sanddunes in the late afternoon and it has been fantastic, I woul recommend it.
I've allready been twice in Qasr and I'm sure I'll visit again!

First of all it has the longest and most amazing driveway - seems to wind on forever through the amazing sand dunes - with impressive doorways along the way (just so you know you are going the right way!). Then you get to the entrance and its all just fabulous really! Great check in and service to your room. All the rooms have views over the sand dunes and we had a terrace room with a fantastic outdoor area. As some of the other reviews have stated we could have quite easily have just stayed in our room...beautiful decor and very big. My parents had a balcony room next door and that was just as nice inside.

We had dinner in the restaurant by the pool and it was really nice, the breakfast was good too. The only thing I would say is that something didn't agree with some of the party - we narrowed it down to either the camel milk/date drink or pina colada (just the one!).

The hotel is just very beautiful, the lobby, library, stairwells and corridors, pool - all of it....lots of thought has been put into each object or design. Then there is the view - well, its simply magical!

I can't wait to go again - just need to take out a small loan first haha!

We spend 3 days in this hotel incl. New Year's evening 2012-2013, with a family of 5 adults and a child.

The views (from the room and from the pool side) are amazing.
The breakfast was huge, better than in the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi city.
Free water and mango juice at the beautiful (hot) pool.

Also kid's club and huge workout room available

Ideal for long walks in the desert, soft 4x4 drives (already rathering scary for me), riding a camel (with my 4yo daughter) and sunbathing.

Only minus: The children's menu showed mostly unhealthy dishes (french fries, nuggets, ....).

Our short 2 night stay at this extraordinarily wonderful resort was nothing short of amazing. It could perhaps be the best stay of our lives. And also one of the most expensive but that is without any regret.
We wanted a unique experinec in the UAE before returning home to Australia after having spent nearly 3 months away often in fairly basic accomodation. The resort delivered that experince in spades.
Although we had one of the 'cheapest' rooms it was amazing in size, comfort, design, decoration and facilities. We didn't want to leave the room but of course we were enticed to the expansive and beautiful swimming pools, the restaurants and bar as well as into the desert to tramp up the stunningly beutiful dunes to watch the blood red sun escape below the horizon.
We used the gym and had inmput from teh free trainer who was extremely friendly, practical and professional.
The pool staff were excellent as were the bar, restaurant and front desk staff. Superbly trained and appearing genuinely desiring to meet their clients needs and to make their stay truly memorable.
If there is any gripe it would be that teh food, whilst beautifully presented and providing a large choice (especially at breakfast) is not quite up to the standard of this super 5 star or more hotel. And the restaurant and bar prices are very pricey but this is expected in the middle of the desert and in a 5 star resort.
We would love to go back sometime so go if you can.

Room Tip: If you like wine, beer or spirits, consider taking your own along. They will provide you with ice et...

Went for 2 days with the family.Good place for its sceneray.but don't rely on food experience.it was the worst for the 10 of us. Don't have lunch at Ghadeer restaurant, which was really the worst in food taste and quality.two of us vomitted after trying to ignore and have lunch. the salad was creepy.meat was just a 10 % with respect to the fat.the salmon was really smelly and yak and much more.even the children plate was nothing to do but an oily 90 % portion.

The run up to the hotel through the Sand Dunes from the main highway does not prepare you for the surprise you get as the hotel seems to loom up from nowhere. It looks like a huge castle made from sand..it is well done to blend in with the surrounding desert. We were greeted by a bank of porters and a Falconer looking like something out of Lawrence of Arabia.
Our room had a patio,a small garden overlooking the pool and desert and a fabulous bathroom. The decor was in keeping with the Berber style all lanterns, kilims and heavy wooden doors even disguising the wardrobe. Fruit and dates awaited us.
The pool area was fabulous and someone even came over to ask us whether we wanted our sunglasses cleaned (a first!).
There were three opportunities to dine, our favourite being the restaurant near the pool...there is also a Berber style bar there where one can have a shisha pipe if wanted. Another dining option is to go to a 'Berber camp' to eat in the desert (a short walking hop away). All the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was great and breakfast superb.
All the walkways are fabulous with running water and at night it is stunning when all the islamic lamps are lit up. There are plenty of meditational spaces to sit in the desert..a trip up the dunes to see the setting sun is a must do. There are activities such as camel trekking, falcon flying and driving Jeeps across the dunes...Expensive but worth every penny..great honeymoon hotel too. One thing though the only way to get back is to hire a hotel car and that is pricey! Oh and so is the Spa.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms must be fabulous they all seem well positioned.. we had number 43.

I stayed at the hotel with the family - wife, daughter, son0in-law and 3 grandsons. It was during Ramadan 2012.

The hotel is a long way from Abu Dhabi and is accessed by diving 4 hours at speed due south until you're almost at the Saudi border. I's a good road with some petrol stations so its not a 'desert drive' or anything difficult.

Booking on-line was very good
The front desk gave excellent service
We were in our rooms in no time and no fuss.

The hotel was fairly empty given it was Ramadan but that was an advantage.
The rooms are the best finished rooms i've ever seen. The quality of the fittings, the furniture, the decor and layout were superb. You know how door architraves always have little edges of paint on them - not here.

The pool and its associated restaurant is out on the desert floor so yo have to get a buggy to take you there - the whole hotel in fact is so spread out that you need a buggy to get around. This didn't cause any problems but i wondered how easy it would be if the hotel was full.

The food was good - to average, and the main restaurant was a bit on the gloomy side. Food at the poolside restaurant was good but limited.

Service was excellent. My wife and i had to change rooms mid-stay because the a/c in the room we had conked out - the change was effected quickly with no fuss, the staff took our clothes and things and replaced them in the new (upgraded) room.

But all of the above pales beside the look and layout of the hotel itself, it really is a hotel fit for a king. Every aspect of the place was wonderful and every corner turned gave new vistas and architecture to behold. The hotel is a 30 minute drive through sand dunes (on a proper road) and is nestled amongst some of the biggest and most pristine dunes I've ever seen.

There are trips available and a good selection of activities (eg archery, dune bashing). The family went of several trips and did activities while I lay at the pool like a beached dolphin.

Overall - a must see place.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are excellent. There is a VIP area remote from the hotel and would need buggy acces...
