A real oasis, would definitely recommend this place for stunning desert scenery - well worth the long drive for a couple of days here. It is a huge resort, but fortunately not that crowded when we were there. Big room with an amazing bathtub. Large terrace off our room was great for lazing around in the shade from the midday sun. The buffets for breakfast and dinner were excellent, and we enjoyed star gazing with the telescope outside the bar. Camel ride and dune drive were enjoyable. The Spa was very good, with lovely views from the treatment rooms, and excellent Thai therapists. The only down side was the large number of rather arrogant Emirati men staying - if you haven't seen what they can be like then beware - they think that they are superior to every other race (and obviously gender), and were extremely rude and disrespectful to the staff, particularly in the spa.

Great Time with the family at Qasr Al Sarab what an experience. Finding the hotel in between hills of sand dunes was beyond relief. What seems to be a dirt road was made magical by the appearance of a castle. My family was very excited of such discovery. We drove off away from the city for weekend desert hunting. We found Qasr Al Sarab on the internet first but seeing it and discovering it ourselves was extremely special for us. So we got a very comfortable room with a nice view of what I call a desert garden (some green shrubs are already starting to appear). We went for a look of the hotel, restaurants and pool and stayed at their Suhail rooftop restaurant for the afternoon drinks where we got the best view of the sand hills and beautiful sunset. There we also met the hotel manager who was very helpful and invited us for a dinner in the same restaurant and so we did. We got a table at the terrace near the big heaters. The singer was excellent with her choice of jazz, modern and latin music.

We are very impressed with the service at the rooftop restaurant. It was a mildly-cold evening and they kept the shawls ready for us and for all the guests who are dining outside! Apart from that the staff are very accommodating and smiling too. Their Executive Chef personally approached us and took care of mine and my twin’s food requirements as we are on strict vegetarian diet. The whole evening was marvelous with the restaurant manager checking on us regularly his name is max, ask for him before when you are up their, we had a good conversation with him and he made us feel more comfortable. The food is second to none and ambiance is just perfect. The next day we had breakfast at Al Waha buffet. It’s quite amazing that they get the freshest food stuff in here .Service is consistently great especially Umesh ,he seems to be everywhere looking after our needs! We had little issues here and there but everything had been addressed so quickly that I should say it’s the best weekend ever! We are looking forward to be back soon. Can’t wait…!

The hotel and its setting are amazingly beautiful. Everything from pick up, to check-in, to check out was superb. We were picked up in Dubai, and the driver was exactly on time. Our bags were immediately wisked away upon arrival, and we were quickly shown to our room. When I pointed out that the wine and fruit - part of our package - were not in the room, the person who showed us to the room very gracefully and promptly rectified that.
We had the deluxe terrace room, which I highly recommend. The terrace was as large as the bedroom and had a comfy chair, a table and chairs for eating, and a built-in bench with cushions and pillows. The room had a sophisticated lighting scheme, with a romantic dim setting, and goose neck lamps for reading in bed.
We ate at Al Waha for breakfast - good custom-made omlettes and scrambled eggs - and the other two restaurants for dinner. The restaurants were indeed pricey, and I agree that the wine list is a bit limited. The lamb chops were quite good, as was the tuna starter, chocolate souffle and tiramisu. I agree, however, there is room for improvement. Further, we asked if off-menu items were possible but were told no; in a nearly empty restaurant it seems we should have been accommodated, within reason. The room service portions were very generous - one entree serves two. We were also glad to have brought a few snacks (some cheese, which we put in the mini-fridge) and crackers. The internet connection was very fast.
Raquel was a fantastic exercise class instructor; she encourged me to try cardio-boxing, which was fun. The spa was beautiful, and we enjoyed the treatments.
I could go on, but that's the idea.

We (two families, including six teens / young adults and a 75 year-old) took villas 47 and 48 for three nights between Christmas and New Year, and every one of the 11 of us rates this as a best-in-a-lifetime holiday. The service is phenomenal, particularly in the villas in which personal butlers (ours was Manjula, highly commended) under the leadership of the omnipresent, omnipotent, suave and ever-amiable Richard Neville deliver 'round the clock, personal attention. And it is truly personal - greeting guests by name and knowing what they have been up to. The restaurants range from casual to haute cuisine and are truly excellent, if not inexpensive - and the staff (Jean particularly commended) are attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. There are activities available through a TDIC company that is not affiliated with the hotel - we did the dawn desert trek, dune bashing and camel trek, and although we have done all of these elsewhere, they are better at Qasr Al Sarab than anywhere else (they shampoo their camels....). The setting of the resort is just extraordinary, among the dunes of the north-eastern fringe of the Rub Al Khali. All in all, Qasr Al Sarab is a true destination resort and - provided you are prepared to pay for the privilege - a not-to-be-missed experience. Just to prove that this is a balanced review, a few quibbles follow. First, it is eye-wateringly expensive, even with the benefit of a three-nights-for-two deal (but worth it...). Second, our room had slightly smelly drains - addressed every day by the cleaning staff, but apparently not amenable to a permanent solution. Third, the wine list is pretty limited, which is neither commensurate with the quality of the restaurants nor necessary in very tolerant Abu Dhabi. That's it, really - minor issues in the scheme of things.

This resort is gorgeous, majestic and beautifully located with fantastic vistas of the empty quarter. Stayed in a terrace room, which had a lovely room, terrace and a view. The bed was to die for, we had our own cupuccino/espresso machine, and the tv had many English channels. The food was top notch with many choices. The pool was heated and our daughter greatly enjoyed her swim. She also used our big round/jacuzzi like tub as a mini swimming pool. The service was very professional and efficient. Booked a dune bashing trip(hardcore) which was excellent and a 45 minute camel ride, which was less rewarding as the ride lasted only 15 minutes or so. Apparently, the 45 minutes included the transportation to and from the camel gathering spot. Overall, a special place to remember. Highly recommend it!!

We have had a fantastic stay in this beautiful resort in the desert and we will definitely return and stay with them again.

The hotel location is just beautiful as most reviews say. Apart from the great environment, the hotel premises itself is beautifully designed with fountains, palm trees & flowers everywhere. And I truly love the huge teapots & gorgeous lamps as decorations.

We stayed in a Terrace Room and the room is spacious with good lighting system, touch-screen phones, LCD TV with TV games option for kids and even a Nespresso machine. Internet connection speed is unexpectedly fast. The bathroom is huge and well designed. The view of the room & terrace of course is fantastic. The desert view is stunning and it keeps changing throughout the day.

What makes this hotel stand out is its great team of staff. Each of them makes you feel welcomed everywhere. The buggy service is efficient and no matter how often we ask for their pick up, they come with a welcome smile. The staff at the Al Waha Restaurant is particularly attentive & friendly. They are very friendly to little guests and making them feel special.

The buffet at Al Waha is quite good but as an Asian, I do recommend to have more items of Asia favor like Thai or Chinese. Food at the Poolside restaurant is great with a lovely setting. Room service is efficient and the portion & quality is unexpectedly great.

About hotel facilities, the kid’s club is wonderful. There are Wii & Playstation for older kids. And a variety of toys for younger ones. The spa facility is good with professional therapists and a lovely setting with again desert view treatment rooms. The tour activities available at the hotel is well organized. There is a big souvenir shop but honestly there are not many to choose from. If you play tennis, do book the tennis court located at the other end of the hotel. It’s a beautiful location that you can see different areas of sand dunes. Staff at the tennis court is great too!

To sum up, it’s one of the most pleasant hotels we’ve ever stayed. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to have desert experience while indulging in the luxury at the same time. And it’s good for both travelers who want to have romance with their love one and for families with kids too.

This Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara deserves to be No. 1 and I'm looking forward to that.
