Owner description: Just like the sailors of old, you’d recognize this Venetian island by the picturesque pastel-colored houses and buildings visible from its shores. Burano also is famous for its intimate lace, an art its people want to keep alive.

A nice break from nearby busy Venice. The boat ride is relatively brief and relaxing. The place looks like a small town and a trip to the past, quiet, with very pretty and well kept houses. Nothing much has changed here in the last 100 years. There are many shops and restaurants to choose from. The people are very nice and friendly. A good place to walk around and explore.

We visited here from Murano, mostly because of our interest and love of lace, and were delighted at the color and charm of Burano, as well as the lace museum with its history of of the old school of lace making and the beautiful examples of antique lace that displayed in the museum. The island shops and homes are very colorful and delightful, with many narrow canals and lovely old wooden bridges, it really is like eye candy. We did not find any handmade lace for sale on the island, I am not sure if there is any… a lot of imported lace, but it is a charming place to visit and another nice boat ride. We were there in September 2012, great weather!

Boat trip to Burano is relaxing. You will be away from Venice crowds. The island itself is known for colourful houses, but apart from that I did not find much of interest here. If you have seen other attractions in Venice and want to visit something different and quieter, take a trip here.

If you are planning to visit Murano (for glass workshops) this is not far - so it would make sense to visit both.

Nice boat trip out to this island, known for its lace products. Touristy, yet still quieter than Venice proper and so easy to walk around and just enjoy. Had a nice little lunch on the main piazza past all the shops.

This is a very walkable small island with houses painted in bright primary colors. Venice, by comparison, is drab. Note they have their own Leaning Tower. It is a good thing it is leaning toward the water and not toward the town, because one of these years, it is bound to fall down.
