Burano is such a beautiful little island but this restaurant left us with a sour taste.
Our group of 4 were looking for a light lunch wishing to avoid a pizza luncheon.
We were lured into this place by being told by the restaurant staff that their food was good and there was no service charge. Unfortunately this was wrong on both counts. We were slugged a 6 euro cover charge for 4 people on the bill. When questioned about this charge after being told there was no service charge, I was told the cover charge was different to a service charge and other restaurants on the island charged both. I was told the cover charge was responsible for paying for cleaning the glasses that our drinks were being served in. I thought all restaurants covered that in the price of their drinks!!!!!
The quality of the food was poor. We shared several plates between 4 people including spaghetti with clams, calamari fried, prawn salad, chips and a couple salads. The calamari was tough, the salad was not fresh and a bit wilted, and the spaghetti very ordinary. The prawns were not fresh.
We did not enjoy the meal or its quality. The service at the restaurant was hap hazard and we witnessed people left before ordering.
The meal was also not cheap. With the cover charge the meal excluding drinks was 70 euro. For this type of meal I was paying significantly less in Venice.
I was left with the impression that the restaurant operator was trying to take financial advantage of tourists visiting the island.
I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant and taking your chances elsewhere!
