Being very tired after our 6,000 mile sailing trip from Cape Town to Grenada the Le Phare Bleu Marina was a welcome haven of excellence, much kindness, care, good food & good fun.
We were all exhausted on arrival, so after securing our sailboat in the marina, we repaired to the lightship for a celebratory meal . Amongst the quotes I recorded about the meal was "fantastic", "first class", & "brilliant"Later on during our stay, we realised how superb all the staff at Le Phare were. A bucket of 6 beers for the happy hour at modest cost , and a 2 for 1 on Pizza night certainly went down well with all our crew. The clean marina, the small swimming pool little shop, sail makers, engineering workshop & the lovely gardens were all appreciated. We would all just love to return to Le Phare Bleu some time in the future !!

Room Tip: the closer to the sand & sea the better!

Great place to relax, love the open concept with the large veranda and the swing, overlooking the beautiful gardens with all the plants, listening to the birds. The beach is very small but big enought to have some watersports to do. Hobbycats etc.

Very long wait time for arrival of our food, then both courses arrived very soon after each other. We had complained to the manager, who was pleasant and apologetic, explaining that our order had gone in shortly after a large table's order. Maybe so, but the place was half empty and the waiting staff were under-employed - a gaggle spent most of the evening round the till area. So, it seems like a mismatch or communication failure between kitchen and table service staff.
To be fair, the fish and accompaniments were reasonably well cooked when they did appear, but they were barely warm enough on arrival at table.
Unfortunately, we were then made to wait ages for our change to be returned, and the waiter seemed surprised to be reminded after more than ten minutes. Clearly they thought a 25% tip would have been fair recompense for their efforts. Not.
Sorry, but we are left thinking this place spends lots of money creating a trendy impression, but doesn't bother training its staff properly.

We are very sorry that you had a long wait and that you felt our service was poor. This is certainly not our intention. I have forwarded your feedback to our Restaurant Manager so that she can look into why you experienced such service and make the necessary improvements. Staff training is very important to us and is an ongoing process.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review and can assure you that we do take your feedback seriously.

Kind regards
Lynn

We only stayed for one night at le Phare Bleu on the recommendation of our daughter who stayed there for 5 nights. The Beach Villa No 2 we stayed in is set in beautiful gardens full of flowering plants and trees. The front of the villa leads on to a lawn which goes down to the beach. From our bed we could hear the waves lapping on to the sandy shore. The villa is fitted out to a very high standard, with a large bathroom with shower and a well equipped modern kitchen area looking out towards the sea. The resort has a good restaurant and swimming pool, both overlooking the beach. We had a very comfortable stay and were well looked after by the staff. It seems that no expense has been spared to maintain the high quality of this resort.

After spending a week on St Lucia we headed to Grenada arriving on a Sunday evening in the pouring rain. It was dark on arrival so the beauty of the resort was not appreciated until first light with the wonderful award winning gardens viewed directly from our balcony.
During our stay we made the most of their private beach enjoying the warmth of the Caribbean Sea with snorkelling equipment borrowed free of charge from the resort. They also have some canoes for you to borrow which were great fun. Dieter one of the owners kindly took us out on his dingy and Lynn the Manager found a bottle of coconut water locally to go with the Rum.
We visited St George's a couple of times and an educational day trip with Rock. At sunset we headed to the Beach bar fir a Piña Colada. One night the minister of tourism were in the bar giving a speech! The resort is European run with friendly local staff. Downside - we arrived one week early missing the dingy concert and the Lightship restaurant. As someone who has visited over 50 countries I would return to Grenada and this hotel. I have already recommended to a friend.

Room Tip: Garden villa with sea view gives you best of both options

I think Le Phare Bleu is the first hotel I've stayed at where the website photos of the property and villas appear exactly as they are. The owners, Yana and Dieter have gone to great lengths to ensure an experience that is beyond expectation. The villas are massive, inviting modern spaces with an open concept approach--you can leave the villa doors wide open! Our morning routine quickly became this: grabbing hot nutmeg-laced coffee from The Deck and returning to our balcony to take in the hummingbird activity around our villa.
Each villa is equipped with a full kitchen, fridge (with freezer and ice maker), kettle, stove and oven--for the ambitious. Though, the smell of curry (don't miss out on the chicken roti) and baking pizzas (2 for 1 on Tuesdays) will lure you over to the restaurant sooner than later.
The property is a distance from the main road (close to 2 kilometers to the bus stop) on a hilly, perfumed stretch where, for the amibitious, punishing morning runs will be rewarded with the sweet smells of the isle: nutmeg, coriander and thyme. There is little traffic on the road, so, walking or running this route is tranquil and completely safe.
The Le Phare Bleu property is hard to leave--though we managed to part for a day to check out nearby Grand Anse Beach. However, the privacy and solitude found poolside or at Le Phare's beach is unmatched. Happy Hour has killer deals---buckets of beer (six Carib or Stag) for $24 EC ($12 Canadian). The pina coladas and pain killers (not part of happy hour) are well worth the paralyzing amounts of rum that ignite them.
The staff are quick to please and genuine ambassadors of Grenada. Tom and Lindy were consistently jovial and customer service driven. The hotel manager, Lynn, was equally efficient and conscientious about making sure our stay was superior.
Though the beachfront proper is short, walking along the pier to check out the yachts was on the daily itinerary. Marina guests and yachties were fun to chat with--and on Wednesdays Le Phare hosts a "Friendship Table" at the Deck restaurant where you can mingle with hotel guests and sailors, to hear tall tales of ocean navigation. On a tamer scale, the hotel has two kayaks and two Hobie cats and snorkelling gear for guests.
You won't be disappointed with a stay at Le Phare. It's plush and posh. Don't be surprised when you fall asleep and awake 10 hours later because the mattresses are like sleeping on clouds! And, to fall asleep to an orchestra of frogs is really what dreams are made of.
Local soap and shower amenties that smell exactly like key lime pie are provided, and a homemade oregano oil mosquito repellant--in addition to jugs of milk and juice on your arrival. The water in the fridge is filtered and a mini-market on the property sells beer, spirits, wine, snacks and addictive rum & raisin ice cream.
Conveniently, Le Phare also has an on-site chiropractor and massage services (on your villa balcony) available. And, on Thursdays there is a fresh fruit market where you can purchase sorrel, starfruit, papaya and guava juice.
The unique feature of Le Phare is that Dieter indulges in his musical roots (having owned a music school previously) by hosting local musicians and travelling bands like Canada's Madison Violet (who introduced us to the hotel on a VIP package that included two performances, a Hog Island tour, day excursion and accommodations). Check out footage of the 15th dinghy concert (dinghyconcerts.com) that are exactly that--a concert on the water.
Really, there is no excuse to leave Le Phare. But, when you do, it's only 20 minutes to the airport.
Thank you to Yana and Dieter for sharing your secret sanctuary with us! It was the best place to recalibrate and escape this madness we call winter in Canada.

Room Tip: Choose the seafront villas for proximity to the beach and marina. Your commute to the beach side lou...

I cannot find this restaurant listed separately from the resort on Trip Advisor.

When I discovered that The Deck at Le Phare Bleu resort had a communal dinner called "friendship table" on Wednesday evenings, I could not wait to go as I am a solo traveller and get tired of eating alone.

I went twice. The first time I was there it was poorly attended, maybe 10 people, but I sat with a very nice gentleman who was a great conversationalist and had a lovely time. The meal was buffet style and delicious with over a dozen Caribbean style dishes to try.

The second time I went, the meal was better attended as the owners of the entire resort were there entertaining family from out of town. I also went with a couple from England that I had met on the beach. We sat with the owners and had a great time. This meal was served family style - bowls of steaming food set out on the table for all to try. There was more than enough food and, again, it was delicious - this time having a Mexican theme.

I highly recommend this restaurant especially to those travelling alone... go to their friendship table night.

This place is far away from where I stayed at Grand Anse beach. You will need to take a cab and it will cost you $50 EC return. You pay your driver at the end of the evening when he drops you home, this ensures he will come to get you at the appointed time. Allow two and a half to three hours from the time you are dropped of to when you want to be picked up.

There is a great bar in the restaurant that will keep you happy while you wait for your taxi driver, if needs be.

This was one of the most expensive places I ate, costing about $35 Canadian with a glass of wine with dinner, but worth it.
