We visited the Resort in late May. The resort is very clean and very taken care of. The staff is very hospitable. The beach area and the sitting area on jetty is spectacular. I definitely recommend to at least visit it as it is worth every penny.

Patuno resort is a real gem .We have just returned from a 2 week stay there . From the moment we arrived we were looked after .The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them .
Accommodation is superb , we stayed in an executive cabin which is big enough to hold a party in , very clean , comfy bed and a massive bathroom .
The dive centre is professionally run . we were guided by Dan the ecologist who is a real treasure and Iwan both very knowlegable and pointed out many things on the reef . Boats were well maintained and the diving amazing , fantastic corals good fish life and cristal clear waters .
Mo and Innan who run Patuna are always around checking all is ok for you ,they will organise any sightseeing you wish to do .
if you want night life and shopping this place is not for you but if you want great diving , wonderful location and to be treated like royalty this place is definately for you . We will certainly return

Nice hotel buildings made from wood. In the morning you will have nice view from this hotel and at night stars looks bright.

Not far from hotel on beach area you can do snorkeling. Staff was friendly and helpful, if you want to dive on the island, please use their dive operator and request Amiruddin as your dive master. Although he is not fluent in English, he is a great dive master!

I travelled there with my 5 y.o daughter and my husband. Although they are not big fans of the sea, they really enjoyed the days there. We loved the view, the sea breeze, the nature in the center of the island, the food, the people in and out of the resort. The room was very clean and comfortable. As I went back into water after 2 years of absent, I found the diving guides are very patient and helpful, especially when I am stunned for seconds mezmerized by some creatures I've never seen before. Diving tours are prepared very well. For me, Patuno Resort is just a perfect place for holiday. Overall service is flawless. Everything is just perfect!

Room Tip: fresh bed sheet, clean from cockroaches, gecko's poops (common in tropical islands) and rats, cl...

The island Wangi Wangi of Wakatobi doesn’t offer much culture or nightlife but if you are into long empty clean beaches, top-level diving, bird watching, contact with extremely friendly locals and relaxing after an intense working period, I recommend the Patuno Resort.

I tried a hotel in Wanchi town first but then moved on to Patuno Resort, since the town does not offer much and I wanted the beach feeling … even so it was a bit more expensive.

Patuno Resort is of very good value. Compared to a Hyatt or similar it is missing some features like a swimming pool, SPA, etc., but the price is accordingly lower. Compared to a hotel it offers many resort features and all accommodations are right at the beach in front of a reef where I saw a turtle and a reef shark on my first day snorkelling. The bungalows are VERY beautifully big handcrafted woodworks, including AC, Fridge, TV, hot water, etc. There is not that much difference between the standard and the deluxe room, but the executive suite – I was invited to when I came back after a trip to the island Hoga – has a very luxurious bathroom area behind the massive wooden bed.

The staff is very friendly and you feel like home in a generous personal environment. I was here on my own during low tourist season and got to know the crew a bit better. The level of English is not so high (they told me that this is because they are working with the locals), but there are western employees who understand your western desires. I very much appreciated that one of the managers is a marine biologist who could tell me a lot about fauna and flora.

I would definitely come here again.

Paterno Wakatobi
Service prior to arrival was second to none!. 10/10 to resort staff for their communication prior. Not knowing much about the place, we had lots of questions and all were answered quickly by email. The process of booking our internal flights was taken care of by their local travel agent who was also was extremely efficient.

We stayed in a oceanview deluxe villa. The rooms are enormous and extremely well appointed. Great kingsize bed bed and the largest bathroom we have ever seen. Fantastic hot shower - with good water pressure. A feature of the villa is their fantastic balcony which like everything else is huge, is fitted out with comfy furniture.

Diving
The dive set up is well run and all your gear is loaded, set up and removed and cleaned for you. The large wooden dive boat has plenty of shade and a toilet. It makes the surface intervals enjoyable on your two tank dive trips. The boat leaves from the main Harbour approx 40min drive from the resort, or from the shore midway between the Harbour and the resort. Access to the boat is via a rocky wharf or a inflatable boat ride from the beach. There are a mixture of dive sites but they tend to be mild drift drives along walls The walls are covered with hard coral and some soft and there are plentiful species of fish. Overall, the diving is excellent with great visibility and warm water (28 deg).

Eating
The resort restaurant is a large open space dining area with great ocean views. The menu has a lot of variety with a good selection of vegetarian options . Overall the food quality is very good and well priced. The service is good but the staff are not very fluent in English so an Indonesian phase book is very handy and makes for some fun. Note the resort is running English classes to improve staff/guest communication.

Wangi Wangi island
Tourists to this area should be aware that this is a very under developed region and there are no western style restaurants and you should be prepared to see a large amount of plastic waste both on land and in the water.

It was an adventurous holiday, we flew from Makassar South Sulawesi with a very small aircraft and landed on a very beautiful island, Wangi-wangi in Wakatobi, South East Sulawesi. The hotel staff picked us from the small airport and drove to the resort. I can't imagine in a very remote island of Indonesia, there is a beautiful and well maintained resort. The resort manager, a lady from England, was very nice. She found out that we travelled with kids and she provided us with a large extra bed. We had our meals in the resort restaurant in front of the beach. The foods were really delicious. I can't forget the big fish that I had. Our family was really satisfied with the foods, the resort, the friendly staff and the scenery. A highly recommended place to stay away from the hectic and busy life.
