I cannot fault this hotel, everything about it was top notch. Excellent room, wonderful food and lovely, happy staff. This was my second stay here and I am looking forward to my next stay.
It was a pleasure, just sorry that it wasn't longer.

Just spent the night at Dunston Hall for a Christmas function. On initial view the Hotel is very nice and in very nice grounds. On closer inspection of our rooms we saw stains on the walls which looked liked red wine, I hope, once you spot one bit you tend to follow it allong the wall. The bathroom was tired with rust on the cieling and spots of flaking paint. For the price per night I would expect better decor.

We have just arrived home after spending two nights at this Hotel, at first glance it looks extremely majestic as you drive down the long winding entrance and then you get your first view of this amazing looking old building.
Staff on reception first class as other reviewers have said, we had a King Double Room with views overlooking the golf course, very large and comfortable, but a little tired looking, especially the bathroom, the plumbing was extremely noisy.
We had a pre dinner drink in the massive lounge and the staff were excellent.
Then into the main dining room, surprised no tablecloth, also only paper napkins.
We decided on the Carvery, but after looking at the salad starters we ordered from the other menu, the food on offer did not look at all appetizing , it looked almost uneatable. .
We then went up for the main course, all the usual meats and veg on offer, but, I'm afraid it was only just warm, did not attempt the second night.
After a good nights sleep, we went down for breakfast at 9.15am, shown to table and then went to view the self service hot food, it looked diabolical !, there was a green colour all over the scrambled eggs, we pointed this out and it was quickly removed, fried eggs looked as if they had been done for hours, but to be fair they did do us some fresh.
We then went out into Norwich for the day, park and ride is only a couple of minutes from the Hotel so well worth using.
We again went into the restaurant for dinner, we decided to order from the al a carte menu, both of us thoroughly enjoyed the food, it was a very good experience .
After another reasonable nights sleep we went down for breakfast , what a difference , everything looked freshly cooked, and we had a very good and enjoyable experience , I have to say that all the Staff both in Reception, Bars and Restaurant are exceptional.
Overall we had a very good time, and we will be returning.

Dunston hall is very impressive to look at. Everything a country house hotel should be. Very nice spa area however the jacuzzi was only lukewarm. We had a superior room which was excellent with good facilities. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We opted for the carvery dinner which was good, but breakfast was excellent with a good selection. The gardens looked beautiful but it was too cold for us to enjoy them but we would imagine that a trip in the spring or summer would be really lovely to get the best from all the facilities.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a superior room.

Fantastic Building, nicely decorated and enormous. Lovely bars to sit and have a drink in and very decent prices too for drinks. Reception staff great, everything organised and ready for our arrival even though they were busy. Room was large with a lovely big bed. Bedding lovely and clean, good quality cotton. BUT for me a really bad downside........ NO mattress cover -an absolute NO NO - required even if wanting a basic listing with the tourist board so come on - a four star hotel should have this as a basic...... Also a lot of mould in grouting in bathroom - doesnt bother me too much as long as the bathroom is clean - which it was - but just lacking that final polish - such as marked taps and shower screens. Saw young lad cleaning rooms next morning - so perhaps this explains it. Not the experience of perhaps an older person.
However, everything else was great. Restaurant really buzzing, with lovely private seating not overlooking everyone else. Private booths too which looked lovely. Great choice of carvery or a la carte meu. I chose wrong as a la carte was rather a small amount of food on the plate, but good quality nonetheless. Partner had carvery which was really nice. Lots of parties going on but very quick efficient and lovely service by the young staff who couldnt do enough for you.
A few drinks in the bar after and we were ready for bed.
A great nights sleep, good blackout curtains.
We decided to have breakfast in room as we not great fans of breakfasts in general and it was partners birthday. Masses of food, 3 sausages, 4 bacon, two eggs, toast, pastries, cereal, orange juice tea and coffee. NO butter only flora - shame....... But so much food we could never eat it all. only charged 4.50 extra for delivery which is very fair.
Plenty of free parking at the hotel - we got a taxi into Norwich which was about £12 so not too bad.
Overall a really lovely hotel in a historical building with beautiful grounds. Its got golf and a spa swimming pool etc which we didnt have time to use. The staff are all exremely well trained and happy and something which makes a real change, Local.
Well done Dunston Hall - we look forward to going again soon. But please get mattress covers and look after those lovely beds.

We had their 'Break Away With Me' spa package offer which consists of 1 night dinner, bed & breakfast break plus a 30 minute back massage treatment. We paid extra for the dinner and breakfast of our two children and upgrade to their Deluxe room with two double beds. The massage treatment was quite average and not as relaxing as one you can have at a spa centre such as Imagine Spa (which I have been to and also made a review on here). We were able to check in early as room was already prepared. The two comfy double beds came with comfy pillows and warm duvet blankets. Very clean bedroom with a 32-inch LCD TV and toilet/bathroom. We had a swim at their pool which was quite cold so we stayed longer at the jacuzzi instead. Our 3-course meals were delicious - from the starters, main meal to desserts. The buffet breakfast was full English plus a lot more of meats, cheeses, and different sorts of bread. There was free wifi throughout the hotel. They can also provide you with complimentary robes and slippers but these need to be requested from their reception desk.
