We had been to Dunston Hall a few weeks ago for lunch and had been very disappointed with the food. After writing to the Hotel we were invited back for lunch free of charge. The food was lovely and the service excellent. The problems that we had noted on our previous visit had been rectified and we would happily recommend the restaurant. We had the Al La Carte menu and the carvery also looked nice.

Had a I night dinner bed and breakfast before the Norwich v Liverpool match. Hotel was first class with an imposing entrance. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Meals were first class with plenty of choice. We were upgraded to a King Size room which was fantastic. Breakfast was good with an excellent choice, however the food could have been hotter and the toasting machine was not working, but staff were happy to make toast in the kitchen. All in all a very relaxed break.

As we drove down the driveway we were very impressed by the imposing building. Reception staff were very welcoming and we received a complimentary upgrade which was a lovely surprise. The lady who checked us in was very friendly and helpful, a lovely start to our stay. Food was wonderful with a great selection of wines. All staff were so attentive throughout our stay. I would highly recommend a visit.

My husband and I booked this for our anniversary. We booked a stay to include dinner, bed, breakfast and also a 30 minute treatment each at a very good price.
My husband didn't want a spa treatment as wanted to watch the football so I had two! Lucky me! I had a massage followed by a facial. Both were very good done in the Lilac Room. The pool area was very good also, it was quiet around 3pm but later filled up around 5pm. Mid afternoon seems to be the best time for a quiet read of a book poolside and swim.
While I was getting pampered my husband went to the Bunkers bar. He said it was a nice informal place to watch sports and have a nice pint!

Our room is the only reason this review isn't five stars. It seemed nice and clean. I would recommend using a bedspread, valance sheet and cushions on the bed as without it seemed very plain. Looking at all the pictures they all seem to have this except for our room. Also when touching up grouting in the bathroom it would be better to use white grouting as the ivory colour used made these bits look dirty.

The main bar was lovely with a big conservatory and lots of sofas. The service was good with friendly attentive staff.

The restaurant had a very good selection. You could chose from two menus and a carvery. We had a starter off the menu and the carvery for main. The carvery was very good with lots of different vegetables and meats. We had a nice bottle of wine. The service was excellent.

I would recommend this hotel for a romantic night away. I've read comments saying the rooms are too traditional. I think they are fine. You are staying in a country house hotel!

My mum pre-booked herself and I to have a surprise 'high tea' at Dunston Hall to celebrate my 17th birthday. The overall appearance of the hotel was absolutely fantastic and then inside was very inviting, with friendly receptionists. We got directed to the bar area, where the high tea took place- in a grand conservatory- and asked the barman where we were seated, however there had been a mix up and apparently our booking 'had not been placed on the system'. The waiter was very lovely and kept apolgising for the mistake and went out of his way to arrange us a table and chairs so we could still have the tea. However, because I have a wheat and gluten intolerance and the hotel specifically asked my mum to give around 2 weeks notice to cater for this, the mix up meant they did not have any gluten-free cakes or sandwiches. The manager was called at this point and she was extremely cooperative and apologetic. She promptly assured us that they would get some gluten-free cakes and sandwiches just for me as soon as possible and make it 'extra special' to apologise. They gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne while we waited which was lovely and when the food came (took around 10 minutes), it was amazing- they weren't joking when they said they would make it 'special'- we even gave some cakes to these two women on another table because there was so much gorgeous food! After we had finished, the hotel manager came over to make sure everything was okay and then told us that we didn't have to pay a penny... Just goes to show how much the hotel values their customers (and neither of us had been to there before). The afternoon made my birthday feel so special, as did all the staff there. Highly recommend!

Driving along the long driveway you are welcomed by the front of the building which certainly has the wow factor with its fountain and golf course in the grounds, inside its lavish with wooden staircases and chandeliers, its really is grand, however this is where the spectacular stops and maybe this entrance sets your expectations too high, the rooms are spacious if you book the higher grade rooms however they are dated and still have box style tv's and are generally in need of a refurb,(I believe this is underway,so be careful to book a refurb room) the swimming pool is ok, but could do with a good scrub in places- not unpleasant but a little underwhelming, the same is to be said for the breakfast, at times it can be a let down due to the buffet style meaning food is sat around for a while- unless you go ala carte-included in the price- which is of good quality, overall you feel like a prince when you walk in but never quite feel as regal when you are checking out,
