Stayed for 4 nights as a family. Great location with Norwich, Broads and coast within 30 mins. Very friendly and helpful staff. Yes rooms and main areas slightly rough at the edges but we were very happy with our rooms. No air con but ok with extra fan. Breakfast buffet very impressive with huge choice and superb fresh bread. Would stay again.

33 of us visited some for 2 nights others for 1 night and had a great time. Richard Tidy was excellent from my initial enquiry through to the delivery of exactly what we wanted and although not around until our second day he made sure we had everything was how we wanted it. The hotel delivered for us as a group on all counts however if i was being critical the reception staff were not as welcoming as they could have been and 1st impresions do count, especially after a long journey, however, i know they dealt with any problems people had extremely well. Staff in Pro shop were very accomodating as were all the staff in bunkers. Breakfast was fine and the Sunday evening carvery was great and the staff in the restaurant were very accomodating, friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. There were weddings in the hotel when we were there and the bar service was slower than i would have expected in the main bar and the bar had quite a collection of used glasses on which might be me being hyper critical but that said all in all great value for money for a group golf break. Rooms were all fine however some of the rooms has not been made into twins so house keeping had to un zip and link beds after check in which is not what would have expected from Devere, that said they were rectified very quickly and effieceiently. All in all food good, golf great and Richard thanks for everything and we will return at some point.

Dear crh65

Thank you for the review of Dunston Hall, Sorry to hear the welcome on arrival was not up to our normal high standard, I have passed your comments onto our reception manager.

It was however great to read you enjoyed all of the other aspects of your time with us at the hotel.

I hope you and your group will return to the hall in the near future.

Kind Regards

We spent 2 nights at dunston hall. The room was lovely and the reception areas in the hotel beautifully done. Staff couldn't do enough for you. They were helpful and cheerful. However it's obvious that the hotel still has a wee bit to go. Our bathroom was a bit dated and although the leisure facilities ticked all the right boxes they were not up to the standard expected particularly around cleanliness and flaky wallpaper. That being said we would go back.

Firstly, if anyone books a special offer like we did, then don't expect 5 star luxury for what is brilliant value for money! We paid around £160 for 2 nights B and B, with dinner on the first night. This works out at £40 per person, per night! When you factor in dinner on the first night, it's amazing value! Free high speed wifi, and leisure use, also adds value. Very comfy bed, and great tv choice too.
I am amazed by all the whingers on here, moaning about the hotel. It's not bad at all! It's a fab location, and food is perfectly good, and plentiful. Yes, the hotel is a little tired decor wise, but we didn't go to look at the wallpaper!
We had a small issue with the water in our bathroom, but this was dealt with superbly by the duty manager, Ewan, who even forwarded a card and bottle of champagne to our next hotel on our road trip. What a great touch of customer care.
To sum up.....great value for money. If you all want to complain and moan, then do it politely and you may get treated better!

For a two night break, Dunston Hall was lovely and in a great location just a few miles outside of Norwich.
I booked a standard room through Hotels.com and it asked on there if I would prefer double or twin. I stated double as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and on arrival, we had been upgraded to a four poster room! In there was a nice card and a box of complimentary chocolates which was a really lovely gesture!
Really fast wi fi is great throughout the hotel and is unheard of at a lot of hotel, good idea.
The bed was comfortable and the bathroom, with double sink, was clean. The room was huge and the tv is great too! It had a hair dryer, iron etc all the items you'd expect.
We used the leisure facilities, lovely steam room and nice pool.
The first night we stayed, we ate in the Brasserie. Both of us chose steak and for dessert I had Eton mess and my husband chose chocolate brownie with ice cream. We had a bottle of house red to go with it. The food was good and we were extremely full afterwards! Expensive, but no more so than any other hotels.
Breakfast was very good, lots of choice and it was nice to be seated and tea / coffee orders taken.
Finally, a special thanks to all the staff at Dunston Hall. Every person we encountered was friendly and interested. We had a minor issue with the room which was resolved immediately and the check in / out staff were lovely too. Very welcoming and chatty. Restaurant staff excellent too!
Would recommend for a nice relaxing break and would like to come back and stay in the new refurbished area of the hotel!

I have wanted to stay at Dunston Hall since I was very young as we drove passed it every time we visited family.

As a treat for my birthday, we bought a £99 Wowcher for 1nt, dinner & breakfast, with a bottle of wine in the room on arrival & 25% of spa treatments.

We were given a free upgrade to a ground floor Deluxe room (#438) with patio area. It was lovely, spotlessly clean (I am very pedantic about cleanliness) & had aircon.

They'd put a birthday card in our room for me & we had a free glass each of Prosecco at dinner.

The Spa treatments (inc. 5 steps to heaven) were AMAZING (thank you Hayley!) & a real treat.

All the staff were lovely, polite & friendly

The grounds are truly beautiful & lovely to walk round.

My husband said the gym was well equipped & very clean

Plenty of free parking for guests

Only negatives;
Cavery dinner & buffet breakfast were luke warm

White wine in room on arrival was not chilled (but we managed to get some ice)

Pool & jacuzzi lighting was blue & quite dull. It did not have the inviting tropical feel as in the brochures.

Very disappointed with my trip to Dunston - took 2 teenagers for a "spa day" and afternoon tea. The pool has broken tiles surrounding it - there is a large amount of damp in the pool area, the shower heads are absolutely filthy. As for the staff in the bar area, they ignored us for at least 10 minutes (whilst grinding coffee beans!) and a prebooked afternoon tea took 40 minutes to get to us. I might add that the two "waitresses" were very welcoming and helpful.

AVOID this venue like the plague - it has rested on its laurels, needs a complete overhaul. Carpets in reception areas tired and tatty on stairs. Overall you would be better off going elsewhere.
