We stayed at Dunston Hall over Christmas. We enjoyed the food and the hotel environment but the Christmas 'package' was expensive and very disappointing. There wasn't any entertainment on Christmas Eve despite the inflated cost of an overnight stay, and the Christmas night entertainment was worthy of a holiday camp with a couple of games of bingo to close the evening at just before 11pm. When we spoke with the Duty Manager the following morning to express our disappointment he said it was their experience that people liked to go to bed early on Christmas Day! A Christmas with very expensive wine but no song or dancing - not very merry.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. It was a business visit and I had the pleasure of staying at De Vere Dunston. This period manor has been converted into an excellent hotel with spa, pool, gym and a big golf course. The food in the restaurant was fabulous and the service was good. I thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful and lush green surrounding of the hotel. It is a good place to stay if you want to beat the hustle bustle of the city.

Stayed at Dunston Hall for a regional conference. The the first impressions of the hotel as you make your way up the long winding drive is impressive. The hotel itself is a blend of old and new- the newer parts have been built to complement the original building which is nice to see. However the dining room is horrendous - the decor looks like a Wimpy bar from the 1970s and is at odds with the rest of the hotel. Situated on a stunning golf course, this would be a fabulous location for a weekend golfing break - the golf course is stunning - shame I was only there on business!
Reception was efficient and happily stored luggage until our rooms were ready. The room I was allocated was in the modern wing but was large, well equipped, clean and comfortable. The only moan I have is about the shower - the water just trickled out even when turned on to full and I find this is a common problem in all the hotels I have stayed in - why??
Food is OK but could be better. Arrived for lunch on the first day - lunch was a carvery with a few extra dishes on the side. Dinner again was a carvery with a few extra dishes on the side. Starters were not very appetising and there was a poor choice. Desserts were of the very sticky, sickly variety and the only other option was a fruit salad which looked as though it was comprised mainly of apples. Buffet breakfast the following day was OK but it you didn't have the full English, there wasn't a lot of choice unless you paid extra for the a la carte. When we arrived for lunch again, we were amazed to find that it was a carvery again!! Think on this score, the hotel could improve on choice.
However the facilities at the hotel were great. Used the fantastic pool, jacuzzi and there is also a steam room, a sauna and a small gym. There are also spa treatments on offer though I didn't have time to try these out.
The bar area is lovely, having a terrace which overlooks the golf course and would be great for warm nights in the summer.
Stayed on business but would definitely come again for a leisure break.

I have just stayed at this hotel, I could not find any faults with my stay. My room was very spacious and tastefully decorated, the bar area was very cosy with an imitation coal fire burning. The staff were very friendly and the service provided was excellent.
The food in the restaraunt was of good quality and not particularly overpriced.
I will definitely be staying again at this hotel

Was a little unsure what to expect with some of the reviews on here, but have to say our stay was perfect!
Upgraded to a deluxe room on arrival at no charge, all staff were pleasant and polite.
Hotel was clean and fairly busy, breakfast was pretty good, not the best I've ever had, but certainly filling and plenty of choice.
Didn't try main meals there, a bit pricey looking!
Headed for the Dun Cow, about a minutes drive after turning left out of hotel enterance, good wholesome food at very sensible prices and nice big variety!

I chose to stay here as I was visiting Norwich on business but didn't want to stay in the city centre. First impresssions as I arrived were good, it is a very good looking building accessed by a long driveway from the main road. Check in was easy with no problems and my room was on the ground floor and fairly easy to find. Staff were very polite and attentive and nothing seemed to much trouble for them.

Only the Braiserrie restaurant was open during my stay but the food was excellent for both breakfast and dinner and the views out over the grounds are great to look out while you are eating. The gym and pool facilities are also excellent. A good sized pool is in fairly constant use and the gym seemed to be busy too.

The only things that I could complain about were the lack of high speed internet access (rooms are on dial up only, come on, this is the 21st century !), the television (looks like it came out of the 80's) and the access from the main road. Although there are the usual brown tourist signs telling where it is, they are not lit up and the entrance isn't either. Arriving in the dark as I did I drove past it twice before realising that was indeed the entrance.

I'd definitely come back here for a golfing trip or indeed to take the other half away for a weekend as it is in truely a stunning location.

Really nice hotel in a great setting. The decor for the newer parts of the hotel could be a bit better but overall we were very happy! The staff couldnt do enough for you. The food was delicious, room was lovely and there was a great golf course too. We didnt use it but there was also a nice looking swimming pool and gym. Driving up the long drive certainly had a bit of a wow factor as we arrived in. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone!
