Excellent resort. Clean functional apartments overlooking golf course. Good quality but pricy Brasserie restaurant. Sports Bar of typical design with ok beer and snack menu. Good location for exploring lovely Norfolk.

We recently had the pleasure of staying here for a few nights with our two children. We were given adjoining rooms; both of which were tastefully decorated and the beds super comfy! The overall decor and ambience is great whether you're there for a relaxing weekend or a few rounds of golf. The staff were all very friendly and the food was delicious - heard that there was a new Chef in the kitchen. What we also really liked was its rural setting without it being too far away from Norwich, Holt, etc. We'd definitely recommend it and hope to return sometime soon.

Room Tip: Families should ask for adjoining rooms

We arrive on time and were greeted with a friendly smile from the staff in the sports bar. Ample tea & coffee were on tap with a nice sized bacon roll with ketchup to hand for each of us, very welcoming on a damp February morning.
Bit of a walk to the first Tee on the Hill course, I prefer the valley course but due to wet weather and several temporary tee's on it we swapped to the Hill course. Greens were in excellent condition and the course was nice to play although understandably a bit damp after all it is the middle of winter !
Afterwards we sat down to a tasty roast chicken meal with veg etc followed by a very sweet apple crumble.
We are a group of Norfolk & Suffolk businessmen who play at many clubs in the area throughout the year so I guess we are a fair judge of all the facilities we used.
Value 9/10, quality of the course 7.5/10, friendliness/helpfulness of staff 9/10, food & beer, 8/10 fresh & tasty. On the whole a good day was had by us all and we look forward to returning soon. Thank you.

Room Tip: We didnt stay over night.

Stayed here for one night on February 22nd. On arrival the hotel interior and public areas are well furnished and of a high quality. We were there before check in as had a round of golf booked but the receptionists were very happy to check us in and therefore all we needed to do was pick the keys up when we had finished playing golf. When we did check in (room 76) we were pleased with the room. It was a standard room but again, recently refurbished and very stylish. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Good tea tray and toiletries on offer. The bathroom was a bit on the small side but not a problem. Nice to see robes in a standard room unlike other hotels in this range where you only get them on upgrading. There was a turn down service but we were getting ready to go out therefore did not use this service, but again a good touch for a small hotel and not expected. We ate in the sports bar as were late to eat and didn't fancy a big meal. The staff who served us were polite but it just lacked the final touches. For example, The tables were all dirty after a day of lots of people using them, as soon as we had ordered our food the staff loudly started to discuss that they would start to close down the bar as they were quiet which made us feel that we should hurry up and leave and so on. We moved into the lounge bar area and asked for a baileys - after ten minutes searching we did get a baileys but then when we went to order another round were told there was no more anywhere in the building. Quite poor to run out ion a hotel of this standard.
The quality of the food at breakfast was very impressive and the cooked items on the menu exceptional but again let down by the detail. The lad serving the coffee was seen lifting the lid on the pots and smelling the contents whenever asked to pour so as to check which was tea or coffee. I had to ask three times for coffee as it seemed that you were only entitled to a drink when you first sat down, he managed to ignore everyone else unless you managed to get his attention. When they served the breakfast it was put down and the staff immediately walked off without asking about sauces etc which left us and others we observed trying to attract other staff.
If they can get these small customer service details right they would make a good hotel into a little gem. For the price it was great value and we would go back for sure.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us of your experience. It was lovely to read that you found Barnham Broom very accommodating, and all the little touched that we put into our rooms are to a high standard.

I was dissapointed to read your comments regarding the service you received in the Sports Bar and also in the Brasserie at breakfast. Please be assured that i have discussed all the points you have raised with our Sports bar and Brasserie Manager. We take great care to ensure that matters such as this are properly looked into and dealt with Immediately.

Your willingness to share your your experience is genuinely appreciated and we shall look forward to seeing you again very soon.

Main purpose of the trip was to play the Valley Course... verdict is don't bother... tatty, poorly prepared and cut out of a ploughed field..... a few interesting holes especially the par 3's, decent greens considering the amount of recent rain but dreadful fairways that could not be distinguished from the rough. Not up to the standard of the hype..... almost 100% temporary tees which were poor, largely just because the pegs were placed on the grass in front of the normal tee boxes... nearly all were not even level. This will be a much better course in the summer .... grim in the winter.
The hotel is very pleasant, neat, tidy, modern and well decorated to a good standard. Our superior room was excellent, great bed, high quality Samsung LED TV..... Cannot review health spa facilities as these were not used.
The big problem was no hot water at 700/730 pm when getting ready for dinner and no hot water for a wash before breakfast on Sunday morning. When speaking to reception there was no apology. no offer to correct and no investigation to correct... just a curt response of " well there are obviously too many people getting ready" .... This is unacceptable for a hotel that says it is 4 star. What were we expected to do ? Get ready after dinner ? It must be 30 years since we have stayed in a hotel that didn't have hot water. If the hotel can't manage with the numbers then only enough rooms should be sold for the plumbing to cope with.
Also the Reception Manager was not aware of the hotel websites advertised offers....he was rude, dismissive and patronising as well as wrong. What a shame.

Room Tip: Ask for a superior room... use the kettle to boil up enough water for a bath

Thank you for taking the time to review Barnham Broom. It was very nice to read that you found the Hotel to be pleasant, modern and well decorated.

I am however sorry to read that you felt the Valley Course was not to be of a high standard. Winter greens are very different to our summer greens your completely right. We have experienced very heavy rain in the last 2 weeks which has resulted into both of our courses being closed, and no heavy machinery has been aloud which has made our courses a lot harder to manage.

Regarding your experience when staying in the Hotel I would be most grateful if you could contact me on 01603 759393 or emailing sjones@barnham-broom.co.uk

I consider this hotel a higher class stay. Lovely settings, comfy room lots of seating in homely lounge. We were impressed with Brasserie dinner last night, service attentive very much so in fact. All our food fresh and quality and tasty. We were pleasantly surprised actually. Probably one of the most enjoyable meals out we've had. We also previously had spa treatments which were lovely fully booked this weekend :( always book in advance. Previously used gym and tennis court both very good. The swimming pool is ok to good. Far out enough to feel like we've gone away but not at all far from Norwich, we are locals. Reception very professional and polite. All these small gestures matter. We will go back.

I think the mark of a really good hotel is how well they deal with any queries.
Barnham Broom is a very pleasant hotel, it is clean and well decorated bar staff are friendly & the restaurant staff are efficient. Our room is great with all the facilities you would expect & some very welcome extra touches. Having been treated by friends to celebrate my partner's "landmark" birthday, all we've had to do is turn up & enjoy.
However, what should have been an excellent experience has been let down by the officious attitude of a duty manager towards my friend's query about the hotel's online offer of a bottle of wine with dinner. However many stars you have, if you supplement your business with species offers and freebies, you should honour them graciously, not make your guest feel awkward for asking about them.
This man should learn from the very best places we have stayed, where requests are met with "Yes of course" or "I'll see what I can do". When your facilities are four star, all your staff really must be too.
