Reviewed 14 April 2012

The Old Rectory is in a very pretty rural location, and the hosts are both hospitable and welcoming. Our room was well equipped, our wet clothes and walking shoes were dried overnight, and we had home made bread with our breakfast.

We stayed 3 nights, our second visit and we were made very welcome by David and Sue who were the essence of hospitality, and most helpful with local knowledge. This makes an excellent base for visiting Norwich , the Sainsbury Centre and surrounding attractions.

We have been staying here for 15 years and would not stay any where else. Our grown up children adore it and Mr and Mrs Thurman give us a fantastic welcome every time. We liken it to coming home. The home cooked food is second to none and their home is spotless. We adore staying there.

We've just had a weekend at the Old Rectory and were quite disappointed. September 2008 as part of a wedding celebration party. The webpage it has makes it look very picturesque from the outside which it undoubtedly is. It is once you get inside you realise why there are no pictures of the interior to be found. We got stuck with the twin room and had to move the two uncomfortable beds together to reveal that they haven't vacuumed underneath them for a long time, revealing a child's toy and several large dead flies underneath just one of them. The heavy feather pillows slide from under your head and don't support your neck at all. None of the rooms were exceptionally clean and others complained of their beds/mattresses being so old they couldn't support anything, let alone two bodies.
The breakfast is fine although overcooked and they are mean little sausages and rather larger portions for men than women which wasn't well recieved. The eggs are home reared and lovely although as stated before, the homemade bread and preserves are very good and their secret tea blend was a bonus.
The garden and surroundings are lovely. The hosts are lovely and there's a walk you can do down to a pub that overlooks a river and meadows which is what going to Norfolk is all about. The couple who own the B&B are lovely and attentive if a tad fussy.
All in all, a nice stay but very basic.
Would I recommend it? Probably not
Would I go again? Probably not, but then it wasn't me who picked where we stayed anyway.
Is it value for money? No, not really

Stayed overnight in what can only be described as the most picturesque and beautiful accomodation in Norwich, or Framingham Pigot! Up until now my husband and I have avoided B +Bs in this country, largely due to a unpleasant experience once in a seedy one in Nottingham that smelt of dogs etc
But now we are converted! The Old Rectory is beautiful in every way-lovely old retired couple, huge rooms with views to die for, lovely breakfast with eggs used from the chickens outside, and gorgeous, luscious gardens that go forever.
What more can I say, we had a wonderful time...
