“made to feel at home”

I was sooo lucky to get a room as Bira was booked out at the end of Ramadam. Good food, comfortable mattress, fan, balcony with hammock and the owners were very hospitable. Would go back again. Icing on the cake was the car drop off at the airport, safe driver and wonderful conversation. Well done, you win the hospitality game hands down.

My friend and I decided to stay in Salassa Guesthouse based on the very good reviews found on Tripadvisor.
However, we were unlucky because the owner was out of town when we stayed there. I had the owner on the phone a few times before our stay but he never mentioned that he would not be there. The management of the guesthouse was let to the owner's two young children, who were very friendly but not always helpful. One day, no breakfast was served. And when we had a breakfast, we had to wait for 45 minutes before being served.
The place is very very simple (which we knew before coming, so no complain on this). Our room was not very clean, nor were the bathrooms. No bedsheet was provided.
Finally, my friend struggled to sleep because our room was very noisy: the air-conditioning of the neighboring house is very noisy, located only a 2 or 3 meters from the window of our room.
We did not expect anything fancy, considering the low price of the room, but I guess we could have found a better accommodation for the same price.

Some positive remarks: very affordable, well located.

Our travel in Indonesia started in Jakarta and we flew from there to Makassar Sulawesi for our trip thru out south Sulawesi and before going to Bali we made a 3 night stop at Bira beach.

Salassar became our choice because we thought the other hotels were too pricy.

The hotel itself looked more rustic then the other ones but in a way had more soul to it. It was raining the whole time so we hung out at the hotel most of the time, so all we did was exploring the menu.

The food was so amazing that even basic dish like fries noodles had so much flavor to them that you could most definitly taste all the fresh ingredients and all the love that was put into it. Their own twist on Rica Rica and Bumbu Bali were our favourites and could easily put other restaurants out of buissness thru out Sulawesi, plus super low prices!

Shanti and Eric(owners) were the nicest people and made our stay super comfortable the whole time.

It was raining the days when we were in Bira so we spent a lot of time at the guesthouse with the salassa family and they made us feel at home. They are so lovely and helpful and first and foremost they make amazing food. Try the ricarica and bumbu bali! Also, one of us had his birthday while we were there and the grandmother made a birthdaycake indonesian style, which was lovely.

I go there for one night stay in salassa guest house..when I hear the price from my friend I don't expect much for idr 60k/person.. but when we arrive they give us more than expectation.. clean room with wooden wall and floor. I stay in room no 2 there is 6 room there.
We have window but no curtain.. the bathroom is outside our room. There is 2 bathroom to share with other guest. All clean. But the problem is the water sometimes it's looks like want to stop but then it is flow again :)
overall it is great value for money and one think we remember the wall in restaurant that make us laugh check it in the photo I share

good job salassa!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Shantys and Eriqs place! When we come back to Sulawesi we definetly will come back to Salassa Guesthouse!
The owners Shanty and Eriq really make you want to stay longer than you planned, because you feel like home there. The difference to home is that you have breathtaking beaches, corals and delicious food every day!
Shanty really loves cooking and there is so much of her love in the dishes she prepares! It was absolutely no problem to wait a little bit! It was worth! We stayed in Sulawesi for one month in many different places and never had such delicious food like in Salassa Gh (You really have to try Bumbu Bali Sauce!). We still miss it!
It was a nice and friendly atmosphere all the time. Shanty and Eriq can give you so many helpful and honest tips on travelling, sights, prices, culture and organize trips.
The rooms were simple but clean, and the whole thing for the best price! Including every day a different breakfast!

Alltogether Salassa Guesthouse is the best place to stay in Bira and we can honestly recommend it.
