“Just as I expected.”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

It's been a long time since I went to this resort. I think I had a different feeling then compared to my recent stay. Some thing changed for the worse, some for the better. They are currently renovating so that should be good, but not if you are there while it's under renovation. The iconic pagoda, for example, is being worked on so the restaurant is moved to the beach, which is okay.
Food was good, I usually have apprehensions for island resort food. Usually, they lack variety and of poor quality. But not here! It was just perfect. Simple but perfect. All the food I can eat were there. Not much I could ask.

I don't know what water sport activities are on their list but we were able to use their jet skis and go around the area between the main resort and the island across. Of course, for a fee. I just don't know how much. Someone else paid for me (=. A bit boring due to the limited area restriction, but fun nevertheless. I'm not really a beach person and I do not go to beaches unless invited. Fortunately, they have areas that are great for people like me. Explore the resort on door. They have mini zoos and tree-covered trails. Real fun for nature trip. They have a small shuttle to take you acrostic he other side if you get tired.

Staff were really welcoming and friendly. Sometimes I feel their friendly gestures are just routine but still, they are among the friendliest I've met in any hotel.

Room Tip: Villas on the island across (I forgot the name) are amazing! Of course pricier. Really pricier. But...

It's my first time here and below is the review of our stay in Pearl Beach Farm last January 2013. Late post indeed :)

Airport transfers: Booking via Agoda.com would give you free airport transfers and boat transfers. It is very convenient and through a reputable private car company (Eurocar). During our departure, I tried requesting to drop us off in a different location, however, they just do airport transfers.

Boat transfers: This is the only con I can think for the hotel. If you want to maximize your stay in the hotel and time, better plan your arrival carefully and match it with their boat schedule. In our case, we are scheduled at 1:30pm and we arrived at 10:30m. The marina however, was beautiful and relaxing. But one complaint is the pool in the marina was offlimits. Welcome and Orientation The boat ride was about 30-45 mins. It was a big boat and very comfortable. They gave out free complimentary cold water during the ride. When we arrived at the Resort, we were greeted by the beautiful site of the Parola and the houses on the stilts (Samal houses and suites). We were also given pineapple juice as welcome drinks. We were then collected and briefed about the amenities of the resort and important guidelines for our stay.

Room:
For our trip, we selected the Samal house. It is located on near the water walking towards the Mandaya area. You can take the golf cart if you have trouble walking. The room is basically a small house. It has a balcony facing in the ocean if you want to spend some time looking a the ocean. The room is clean, smelled nice. However, the room was open when we entered. I hope they double check after cleaning up the room. The TV was small and we did not bother turning it on. The main bed is very comfortable. Since we were 3 persons. I was surprised that even the extra bed was so fluffy and comfortable.

Food: We tried the buffet dinner and breakfast. For the buffet dinner, I think they did not offer the full deal since an area in the breakfast area was not open during the dinner. The food was great though and varied. The buffet cost less than a thousand pesos and I think is good value.

Amenities and Facilities: They have two pools. One near the main restaurant and parola and the other one near the Mandaya houses. You can also avail of the free transfer to the nearby island which you can explore. The villas in that island our awesome by the way. I wish we stayed there. You have a private beach and an in room jacuzzi.

They also have sports activities but I reckon it needs updating and renovation (which I think they are doing now).

Overall: Good value if you can get a great deal in Agoda.com (free transfers included) or during the local travel fair during August or September. Don't book directly in their site.

Hotel Feature Tip: Don't bother going out the resort to tour on your own. They wont allow you for safety. Hagimit Falls and the Bat cave is very near. The resort offers the tour for 7,0000 for 10pax. Too rich for my blood if you are less than 10pax.

Room Tip: Samal rooms are the budget water villas. Book this if you are 2-3pax.

We stayed here for the 3rd time and we love the place.
However the renovation of the main pool and the main restaurant building and Parola must be completed quickly. Work proceeded very slowly and staff seems to have no idea of actual plan.
We got the impression that management and contractor do no not communicate well.
The beach near to Samal suites was not serviced at all as before. This is the best beach and must be kept in perfect shape. This is a very special resort with high price level. Anything less than perfect cannot be accepted.
We live in Davao and booked again for New Year expecting all facilities to up and running.
Otherwise it will be last time.

Room Tip: Samal suites are worth the extra. Samal houses are exciting and fun for the youngsters.

enjoyed our trip to pearl farm, although some areas are still being renovated infinity pool which the best area and will be done around dec according to their staff. stayed at one of their samal houses, which has an amazing view of the ocean/nearby islands. the buffet breakfast was great (lots of choices) while dinner buffet could be better esp the unlimited mangosteen and pomelo so good! superb service from the resort's friendly staff but staff from their lobby before the boat ride was quite not friendly at all ,even with the renovation going on, had a relaxing and enjoyable stay at this resort.

Room Tip: Ask for newly renovated room

Stayed last March 2013 for a quick gateway in Davao. The Resort view is amazing and very relaxing! Perfect place to unwind. Though the Resort is under renovation most of the facility are not available. I stayed at the Samal House which has easy access to the beach but the room is bit old and the safe box does not function. The food is expensive and nothing special but the buffet has a lot choices. The Malipano Island, which is just across the main island about 5 minutes boat ride is more beautiful than the main island. The staffs were really friendly and they offered as much help as they can. They always greet you with a smile.

Room Tip: Room Tip: Samal Houses are kinda scary at night time especially when it’s raining so hard.

We are locals of Davao but we haven't had the chance to visit this 5-star resort for relaxation & recreation. Last time, it was only more of work related. Now, is the perfect time to enjoy the heat of the sun & the white sand beach. We thank the Ong Abrantes family for this very lovely & romantic honeymoon gift! We reached there past lunch time and the staff were very hospitable, gave us refreshments and warm towel and gathered us in the reception area for some briefing and quick resort history. Then ola! We were headed to our suite.

Our room was remarkable for it was like floating seeing the vast ocean and perfectly facing the Malipano Island. It was like so beautiful to see the island from your own room bed and veranda. It was calm and scenery was majestic! The next day we traveled (10mins boat ride) going to the island and it was really beautiful! Amazing beauty and tranquility! How we miss sunbathing and beach swimming! The white sand beach is like crystals and the blue waters is like clouds. Plus good summer weather! And what makes it more special is when we went there, it was only the two of us! (Aside from the resort staff’s, we owned the small island).

Another that is GRAND with the resort is the FOOD and GREAT Service! We had the best dinner and breakfast by the sea with a very good ambiance & soothing acoustic music (it was like live performance and music were in classic and jazz) YEAH! That helped us eat a lot! Hahaha Loving the seafood (tuna and kinilaw!), fresh vegetables, Filipino delicacies, makamingaw nga lasang pinoy gyud (danggit!) and the mouthwatering fruits (can’t remember how many plates of manga and boongon I finished!).

Pearl Farm Beach Resort is really beautiful! Great place for relaxation and recreation! Will come back for food and the beach! Truly, our Honeymoon Escapade 1st leg: Pearl Farm Beach Resort Huling Hirit sa Tag-init was simply the BEST.
