“Good but with bad details”
Reviewed 6 June 2010

I went to the Haag because of EPO seminar and stayed for 6 days. This hotel is in walking distance from the EPO building. This is the best feature of the hotel.
The room was quite spacy, bathroom too, with bathtube and two washbasins. There was the first detail, the shower head was fixed on the wall what is not very practical for more reasons.
The other thing in bathroom was the rug before the tube was dirty, there were dirty shoeprints on it. The next thing was they didn´t change the towels, there was a writing in the wall that if I want to change my towel I have to put it on the floor. I done it and they only raise it and hang.
There may be were two diferent groops of clean staff - one did proper cleaning, the other only made beds, because two times it happened that the litter wasn´t removed.
The bed was very soft, I don´t like, bu they cannot estimate every guest preferencies so I do not think about it as a fault.
My room was the first behind the doors from lift and they made quite a big noise when someone let it to close them by itsomes. I think that trere was something wrong with the closing mechanismus of the doors.
I haven´t pay for breakfast (13,5 euro and 17 euro for non hotel guest) so I appreciate that in walking distance from hotel is Albert Hein supermarket.
And this must be mentioned, just behing the hotel is huge highway which made a lot of noise, so if you have to stay in this hotel ask for room on the other side of the hotel.

Booked this hotel as it is close to the EPO. Not much going for it. Small rooms, no English TV, nothing local to do. I would recommend staying nearer Den Hagg and getting the quick tram service.
For the facilities, I found this extremely expensive.

  • Liked — Walking distance to the EPO
  • Disliked — Basic facilities only, not even hairdryer

This is a solid 3* hotel very much like a British Holiday Inn. They claim to be in The Hague but it's very much in the suburb of Rijswijk, a 15-minute tram ride on the 17 from Den Haag CS or HS stations and then a five-minute walk through an area that's utterly deserted late at night although it feels pretty safe.

The room is functional, the TV is tiny (and doesn't even have the BBC unlike most Dutch hotels), the shower/restroom is fine although you only get a single small hard towel with bonsai toiletries. There are two irons and ironing boards shared between the 90 rooms, so plan ahead if you need your shirts pressed.

You need transport to get anywhere, it really is in the middle of nowhere, taxis are expensive and unreliable in the morning and evening peak, but the tram is reliable and cheap ([--] will help you out here).

This sounds quite a negative review - it's not meant to be - I stay in about 50 hotels a year and this place is OK, the rooms are clean, the staff all speak English, breakfast is self-service and plentiful. It's decent value for circa €100 a night.
