“Cute secluded place!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We only stayed one night here after visiting Tayrona National Park, and we liked it a lot. It is off the beaten path & a little hard to find but the directions with photos from the hotel are spot on! The rooms are perfect for a couple and child although we had 3 adults and a three year old and sharing the small bed with the three year old was fine! The rooms can get a bit warm since there is no AC do to the nature of the Eco-friendly model & no hot water but the climate is warm enough that you will welcome a cold shower! Good value for the money & the meals were delicious! Warning: surf is ROUGH & the beach here is not suitable for children OR poor swimmers. It can be very dangerous.

My husband and I spent 5 nights in Tayrona Tented Lodge and LOVED it. The beach is virtually deserted and quite beautiful - lots of walking along the shore in either direction (though the sand is quite soft, so people with hip, back or knee problems may not be able to walk for long periods). The rooms were small but comfortable enough. The only major criticism is that there isn't a door or any divider separating the toilet from the rest of the room - a little bit awkward. There is no hot water but it wasn't really needed as a long day at the beach called for a refreshing shower.

The staff is wonderful…there are only 3 - 4 staff members who take care of EVERYTHING, and they do it all with a smile and are very polite and friendly. Jon was very accommodating of us - he was a big help to me in making adjustments to the daily meals to fall in line with my complicated diet due to digestion problems. I did not expect them to find alternatives for me for each meal, but they did and I was very grateful to not have to eat food that made me ill. One day, my husband and I were feeling the lack of alcoholic drinks and so we asked Jon about what we could do to enjoy an afternoon of beach drinks and he arranged a cooler for us with ice, beer cans, an orange drink (not exactly orange juice, more like sugar water with false orange flavouring) to mix with aguardiente. It was very considerate.

I think most people spend less nights here, which would make it easy to bring one's own booze and just purchase mixers from the hotel, but we really enjoyed decompressing for 5 lazy days (with one day spent at Tayrona National Park).

We only had one little hiccup during our trip - at the end of our long day at the National Park, our taxi ride that was prearranged by the hotel forgot to pick us up - after waiting an hour on the street outside the park entrance at our pick up point, we negotiated with a taxi and luckily remembered how to get ourselves back. We did not have a phone number for the hotel, nor did we have a phone ourselves and stupidly put too much trust in our ride showing up. When we showed up at the hotel in our taxi, Jon was very apologetic and offered to pay our fare but we didn't make him. He could have offered a few free beers the next day instead…but didn't. My husband was pretty upset as it was very unprofessional to have been left behind without any means to get in touch with the hotel, but mistakes happen and I speak enough Spanish that it wasn't a total disaster to get back but might have been for someone else.

Overall, if you want to spend some time on a remote beach in clean, quaint and unique accommodations, this is a great option. So many beautiful palm trees for shade, beach loungers were provided which was EXCELLENT, and hammocks, too. A great time, all around.
