“Lovely relaxing venue with food and wine to match.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2013

Lovely setting and seating outside . We started outside but it turned a little chilly so we moved indoors. The service was good and attentive , the shared platter was full of everything, several cheeses, meat, salmon, pickles, there was more than enough and it was topped of with warm homemade bread. Lovely. The summer love wine is very nice , and we purchased some to take home. Tea and coffee finished the meal off nicely.
There was lots of things on the menu to choose from so will defiantly be back with more friends next time.

“steer clear of melton estate”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2013

With mediocre food, distressing and frankly disgusting customer service, it is no wonder Melton Estate had practically no customers to fill its 150 person restaurant even on a Saturday lunchtime when all other restaurants of reasonable calibre are teeming with patrons.

Took half an hour to drive there for my 21st birthday lunch and was surprised to see not a single other person in the expansive dining hall. Entree of risotto balls were okay, however both the lamb medallion and ribeye steak were dry and bland, almost as though they had been once frozen. But we didn't complain as we were planning to use our entertainment card.

However instead of having one of the mains made complimentary as stated on the deal, the owner Tracy had the nerve to say that the entree price would be deducted as it "could be a main for a child" Excuse me, but do we look like children to you?

After about twenty minutes of trying to explain to her that we would not have ordered the entree had we known it was going to set us back $20, she continued to repeat that the entree dubbed a "small plate" on the menu was a main in a patronising manner, like we didn't understand English. There is no way you are fooling us - even if we didn't understand the English there is no way four deep fried balls of 1.5cm radius can constitute a main.

Eventually she gave in, saying "I'll do it this once" as if she was doing us a favour. On the contrary she had just wasted not only the twenty minutes spent arguing with her, but also our entire lunch experience we could have had at an actual restaurant as opposed to a sad, deserted joke of a place.

Steer away from Melton Estate if you are looking for a half decent experience.

“A great chance to create some new memories...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2013 via mobile

We visited Melton Estate in June to celebrate my birthday with family. We got married at Melton Estate in January 2011.

It was so lovely to see Tracey and the improvements they have made to the place and since it was a quieter winters day, she had a chance to show us around.

The food was exceptional and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing Holly (Tracey's daughter) again who had been ever so helpful the night before our wedding when we were there setting up the tables - she gave us some great ideas that worked really well and we were so pleased. The day of my birthday she helped serve us and she was very entertaining and super helpful yet again.

We ate in the smaller room out the back which was lovely and cozy with the heat pump on as it was a miserable day outside. We did think that perhaps the next task on their list may be to update the decor in the back room as it is looking a little dated but it gave us a chance to reminisce about our wedding day.

The Summer Love wine is still our favourite and it was a real treat to have some with our lunch.

If I was to get married again, I would most certainly use this venue again and not hesitate to recommend it to anyone else. Tracey has always gone the extra mile and this time was no exception. We had a lovely time creating new memories with our family at Melton Estate.
