“Great fun scampering among the ruins.”

This great looming castle was built in the late 14th century; after falling into disrepair over the centuries, the castle was nationalized after World War II. Up and down you will go. Great fun visiting the main courtyard, various towers, torture chambedr, weapons room, etc. A well written pamphlet provides a map and brief descriptions. As with all ruins in Poland, be prepared to climb ... and climb, but it's well worth the time and effort to see the spectacular views of the ruins and the countryside. Probably the most interesting ... and certainly largest .. .ruin I visited during my trip, and enjoyed every second.

Thank John L

Ruins of a very large castle. The ruins are magnificent - the castle must have been breathtaking.

It is possible to buy one ticket fr catsle, nearby Miniatures' Park (featuring the castles on the Trail of the Eagles' Nests) and the stronghold on the Mount Birów (also in vincity). There are also severl attractions like night with ghost organized in this place.

This ruined castle forms part of the "the eagles nest which runs from czestochowa to Cracow, there are ruined castles along the trail, ogrodzieniec castle is the best preserved of the ruined castles but olsztyn ruins are I think, even more stunning due to the beautiful views looking out towards czestochowa.
Even so this is a must to visit because it's suitable for families to the most seasoned walker,go early evening for smaller crowds and the chance to watch beautiful sun sets and enjoy the cool summer breeze after a hot polish day.
