If you wanted a good climb and hike for a novice, this is the mountain. Just not in the pouring rain with fog.

Excellent, well-maintained footpaths, helps keep the walker on track and prevents erosion of fragile countryside

The Pen y Ghent is a great cafe with a long traditions but is without toilets (100m away on the National Park's own car park).

It is a tradition here that you order a pint mug of tea after completing the 3 Peaks walks and that is what we did, it was so refreshing after the long strenuous walk. The cakes are excellent, cream teas also. The cafe do a good job in providing the promotional materials for members of the Yorkshire Three Peaks Club who look upon the cafe as their "headquarters". The cafe also provide a checking in facility for timing your 3 Peaks Walk which provides a safety backup so the emergency services can be alerted should you not return within the expected time.

An easy walk from Horton-in-Ribbledale. It's a very well trodden path and so nearly impossible to get lost, but bear in mind that it is steep in parts and a tiny bit of very easy hands on scrambling might be needed.
