“Peppercorn chicken is a must!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2013

Friendly little country place, in a nice peaceful area. The best peppercorn chicken ever and the owner will even make it for you in the evening when its not on the menu. Nice for a walk about after a big meal too.

Booked the sauchieburn hotel for an overnight stay to attend a friends wedding at nearby Fasque.

From initial booking to contacting for directions Julie could not have been more friendly or helpful.

On arrival we were warmly greeted, offered help with luggage and refreshments. Contact number for the local taxi company was kindly given for travel to and from wedding.

The room was spotless, bright and freshly decorated. Tea, coffee, a good range of biscuits and fresh milk provided. A beautiful view over fields and no noise whatsoever! The modern bathroom was stocked with quality mini toiletries, as you would expect in a five star hotel and the grooming kit and hand cream was a lovely touch.

On return from the wedding we had a cute little note left for us and some more fresh milk for tea and coffee.

After a brilliant nights sleep we had a leisurely breakfast. A huge bowl of fresh fruit, selection of cereals, yogurts and fresh orange was laid out. The cooked breakfast was by far one of the nicest I have had in quite a while. Cooked to perfection and very fresh .

We will definitely be back and cannot recommend this little gem enough!! Shame we never had chance to sample their high teas and evening meals !!

Clean, comfortable bed, amazing breakfast, pleasant hosts. breakfast was very good, cereal, fruit juice, yoghurt, fresh fruit salad plus full cooked. New shower in the bedroom. Stayed here for a nearby wedding at fasque house. Can't fault the place really. Lovely hotel.

I have been eating here at least once a month since the owners took it over around 7 years ago. I dined at there previous restaurants also for the last 20 years
I sometimes eat here twice a week I have moved from the area but still travel as there is nowhere that can compare for the quality of the food.
I eat out most nights and have tried all restaurants in a 25 mile radius and many beyond and this wins hands down if it was twice the price I would still go its that good
Whilst my house was getting renovated I also stayed here for 2 weeks and the experiance betters that of 5 star hotels around the world at a fraction of the price it's not often I am impressed.
I travel a lot and am rarely impressed, this really is how places should be Its reasonably priced, friendly and genuinely excellent quality local fresh produce.
Hopefully other restaurant owners will visit and see how things should be done!

I have stayed here three times while visiting Aberdeen and Arbroath on business. I always book in the Stable cottage, lots of room to get my work done. Brilliant! Slept like a baby, really quiet!

Helen and Julie are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble, they really go out of their way to make you feel welcome! (Thanks for the decaf tea and coffee!)

The food at the hotel is more-ish, proper grub! Black puddin' in batter, with home made chutney!!! A must for any Northern lad! (and for all the food snobs out there, Thomas Keller sold Boudin Noir at Bouchon in Las Vegas!) The menu is simple but gives you a great choice. Fresh local produce, great steaks and fantastic breakfasts! Believe all the reviews!

We dined here for our 10th Wedding Anniversary and were made to feel very welcome and had excellent food and service. They have a very extensive menu to suit all tastes and although alittle expensive, the food was excellent and so you only get what you pay for. Highly recommended for adults to dine for a romantic dinner or a good meal on a night out.
