“Great location,wonderful staff!”
Reviewed 7 May 2013

We stayed here 2 nights after a long day of travel from the Togean Islands. Do not be surprised by the fancy front entrance and think you are being scammed this IS the place in the Lonely Planet guide. The rooms are still budget prices. The location is great; the people super friendly and the room clean. We were in a superior room with a/c, cold-water shower, TV, and WI fi. The chairs around the courtyard in front of your room create a nice traveler vibe and everyone is eager to share their stories of where they have been and where they are going. The night market is across the street and the new a/c mall is just a 15-minute walk away. The hotel will help you arrange onward travel. Breakfast was Indonesian style. All in all good value for your money!

Small room with cockroach, bad smell in the bathroom and free internet doesn't work.
If the receptionist called Lali give you some advice on the right place to stay in Togian: be careful. The advice depends of the commission he will receive by the hotel owner. So, avoid to go in Malenge Indah (Lali's friend), except if you like to sleep with rats...
It's better to ask to another travellers.

Staff is friendly & the rooms are cheap. There's an internet cafe next door, and the night food stall are in the park across the street.

Rooms are simple but satisfactory. AC and TV are necessary, as there is really nothing at all to do in Gorontalo. And by nothing, I really min zip, nada, zero.

If you're here, it's most likely on your way to the Togian Islands. With that in mind, stay at this hotel. Really though, try to catch the Tuna Tomini boat to Kadidiri on the same day that you arrive (8pm on select days of the week only).

The hotel owns a general store next door, which is worth shopping in if you need to stock up before going to Togians.

The price is low, but there isn't much you get either. Breakfast is simple, there's no bar or restaurant in hotel or neighbour. Hotel location is bit off from town center, but still there is plenty of noise from roads and mosques. Gorontalo town is boring, don't stay for longer than 1 night here.

There are many acceptable hotels in Gorontalo. This hotel is rather laid back but offers a high level of service. The hotel provides good value for money and is great for back-packers as well as older independent travellers who rather like air-conditioning but dislike ordered patterns of consumption and the dreary air-conditioned nightmare of "little-boxes" in a concrete multi-storey block.

We were warned that the TVs were old and the bathrooms a tad mandi and old fashioned. This is in the process of being rectified and the kit being installed in the renovated rooms looked first rate. The WiFi works and the included breakfast whilst somewhat basic (eggs toast and jam/peanut-butter/sprinkles + tea or coffee) is adequate.

The staff, whilst a little forgetful in an adolescent sort of way do try and then try a lot harder after being spoken to firmly, with that wonderful hurt adolescent look on their face. They aspire to be both friendly and helpful and mostly succeed. The owner, a really nice guy from a mixed Dutch-Indonesian family keeps an avuncular eye on the proceedings and both can and will sort out any problems.

The staff speak English very well which solves a lot of problems for foreign travellers. The owner is tri-lingual having Dutch speaking Dutch as well.

If you want all mod cons then try one of their renovated rooms. If you want really good value and facilities which whilst not pristine function adequately go for one of the older rooms which cost about 15 euro, after all who really needs a hot shower in Gorontalo

Set around a pleasant garden this hotel will compete well with the newer stacked boxes hotels when fully renovated, and if it keeps some of the cheaper rooms will serve the bargain elders and backpackers well into the future.

I enjoyed my stay here, despite the oops I forgot to book it, for my transport out of Gorontalo. The lads sorted us out with what we needed once they realised their mistake and blamed a 'mate who let us down'.

Room Tip: The lower rating will climb to excellent for the newer renovated rooms.
