“A must in the region”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 January 2014 via mobile

The tour experience here is a little like Napa. Our guide was great, but the focus was more on the interior architecture and bottle storage. You won't see the wine production space or any behind the scenes experiences. The tasting we had was of the most basic wines, and we were lucky that Cabas had arranged for a premium wine tasting, paired with lunch, which was excellent.

“A place you must go”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2014

Comparing to other wineries in Mendoza, I would say that there are many more beautiful than Catena. However, the history and the brand created by Catena make mandatory the visit of this winery. Also, the wine is excellent and the tour guides are very pleasant. We were luck to met Angelica Zapata who was very kind and autograph the wine bottles.

It worth the ride.

“Great winery tour with a very knowledgeable guide”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2014

This is a very modern and beautiful winery, which I'd definitely recommend as a stop for those on a wine tour (especially if you are novices like us). Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave a great introduction to Argentinian wines as well as wine tasting in general.

“back to the roots”

We had a great tour at this winery and were most interested in the history of it and the architecture of the new building (like an Inca temple). Wine tasting was very professional and we learned a great deal of 'new' party tricks.

“Beautiful and great wine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2013

It is a beautifully built winery, and the tour is very nice. It does take a long time - about an hour and a half to 2 hours including the tasting. The wines are really good, but you don't end up tasting the best ones. Definitely worth a visit. I'd say go earlier in your set of tours, as it is a nice way to get a sense of how wine is made in the region. Very friendly tour guide. You will need to make a reservation (like most, if not all, vineyards in the area).
