Owner description: Bordered by outdoor cafés, restaurants, and shops, Marina Port la Royale, right in the heart of Marigot, is a pleasant place to visit at any hour of the day.
Reviewed 3 April 2014

The merchants and restaurants of Marina Port La Royale are engaged in slow suicide. They refuse to take action to preserve what was once the "most happening" place on the Island.
Going down the tubes is an understatement.

The streets around are not secure and you park and walk at your own risk, not a Gendarme or security person in sight. Be prepared to be hassled, and a mugging in the main parking lot is not uncommon.

Once inside the marina has the distinct smell of an open sewer. It is depressing as a number of stores and restaurants are closed and boarded-up, and many of the shops now close before the dinner hour. Oh yes, be prepared to be confronted by a slightly loopy homeless person or two on the board-walk.

During the day, when Marigot is open for business, it is a a bit better.

Still has some good resturants but not the vibrant place it used to be.
The Tropicana is excellent but many resturants have closed. Still worth a trip though.

I would not waste time or money going here, did not feel safe and most of the restaurants I remember that were here are now abandoned and boarded up. We ate at one of the only two places open and it was mediocre at best.

Good selection of overpriced places to eat, a few boutiques and little shops and that's about it. You've gotta see it, if only for the view.

Had breakfast, walked through, can see ships and check out a couple of stores. Nothing exciting, but nothing wrong with it.
