“what a find”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

So pleased we came across this establishment, could not find fault anywhere, the presentation of the accommodation, car port, friendly owners, so peaceful and quiet, all that you would want as a home away from home, will keep this as a place to return to when next in the area, so handy to Dunedin, and the surrounding area, we had a great time.

The grounds were picturesque and well maintained. The chalets comfortable, well designed and roomy. The reception was welcoming and informative. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to other travellers .

A weekend of competing at Otago Dressage Tournament held at Taieri A & P grounds so our stay at Longbourne Lodge was very handy. All usual amenities expected at motel-type accommodation were offered in a country setting with undercover parking which proved very handy with the inclement weather we struck. Clean and comfortable.

Always enjoy our stay at Longbourne Lodge on the Taieri - the rooms are so clean, very spacious and you couldn't really ask for anything more! Sandy, Peter and Lizzie are perfect hosts and we will be back again very soon. The grounds are also immaculate with lots and lots of space for the kids and dog to run around, wonderful place to stay!

Just 15 minutes from Dunedin city with all it's great attractions and thus easy access to the fabulous Otago Peninsula is Longbourne Lodge, just out of Mosgiel. Mosgiel itself is a very well equipped town and only 3 minutes drive from the Lodge.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage f or 4 nights which was very spacious. Large bedrooms and lounge and more than adequate bathroom and kitchen. The cottage was serviced daily and supplies replenished without having to ask. The grounds are very attractive and suitable for all ages. Our 16 month old loved running around, interacting with the resident dog, and going on the swing.
The owners are extremely helpful and accommodating. As a value for money accommodation, this is the best place we have stayed in in NZ (and there have been quite a lot!)
I highly recommend staying here. As a base for exploring Otago you won’t find better for a family group. Equally good as a place to just go and chill out for a few days.
My only two things to note – if you want to use the internet here you have to sign up with SurfSpot which is very expensive; and the Lodge is for sale. Hopefully the new owners (when it sells) keep up the high standard!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom lodge, which was clean & well equipped - it was perfect for us, being a family of four. The lodge had its own carport parking space & a lovely verandah (which I think all the Lodges have) which was perfect for sitting out on a nice day with a great view of the mountains. The gardens are also well maintained & there is lots of space for children to run around in. Overall a great stay & we would recommend here.

Sunny, spacious and warm cosy cottages and family sized cottages set on 5 peaceful acres in Mosgiel. View the picturesque scenes of the Taieri Plains and surrounding hills from your covered veranda; enjoy a "country quiet" night’s sleep in our deliciously comfortable beds. Being only four kms from the restaurants and cafes, you could dine out in a different place every night. Or as each cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, you could create your own favourites and dine on the deck enjoying a fine Otago wine as you watch the sun slip slowly behind the hills. Barbeques and picnics are always a family favourite at the Lodge, along with outdoor chess, chequers and petanque. At Longbourne Lodge we like to think globally and act locally, so each cottage is passive solar designed, and features double glazing and solar hot water. We offer rain collected filtered drinking water and the waste water is reticulated for the gardens.
