We spent one night a the Deakins in Killaloe to attend a wedding. We had a very clean room with a hand made quilt which I loved. Breakfast was spectacular and we left very full. Beautiful property and very enjoyable. Lovely home. Brenda & Bill

The Deakin's B and B is set out in the country, on lots of land, so if you like to walk and get some fresh air, or even just stay in and read a book. I had a wonderful time there, great people and wonderful food! Thank you so much for such a great experience.

Don't second guess yourself, choose The Deakin's on MountainView! My brother, sister-in-law and I had the priviledge to enjoying this B&B in September. We returned to Killaloe for a long overdue visit. This was where we were raised as kids. Don and Mary Helen welcomed us like it was our home. I have stayed in 5 diamond hotels and did not feel as "at home or welcomed".

Take any chance you have to stay at this B&B, enjoying the serentiy and beauty Killaloe has to offer.

Room Tip: I enjoyed the suite area because my brother and I were able to sit and catch up.

We spent two days with the Deakins in Killaloe after travelling through Algonquin Park. They were most welcoming and easy going. We had picked up some supper in Barry's Bay and Mary made us tea and some delicious brownies to follow our supper in the dining room.
The rooms are bright and the property is spotless and the beds comfortable.
Don took us through the sugar bush and filled us in on the process of producing his maple syrup. We found the tour very enjoyable and instructive.
We were served a full breakfast which was delicous and filling.
We would highly recommend this bed and breakfast and would certainly return.

Thank you for the kind review of your experience at The Deakins. Our guests find that our hardwood forest tour nicely complements their visit to the coniferous forests of Algonquin Park. We are delighted that you found your stay engaging and satisfying and hope you will indeed visit us again. Don and Mary Helen

We always like to hear that our guests enjoy our breakfasts and a good night's sleep. Sap time is a magical time. Our French toast with orange zest and maple syrup is in high demand during maple syrup season. We look forward to your next stay. Thank you for your comments.

This B&B has a beautiful country setting in the very pastoral area of Wilno. The back roads are a wonderful mix of vistas, lakes & bogs, hills, artist studios and the largest collection of useable log buildings from the 19 th century that I have ever found. The colour in the fall is spectacular and the Deakins is just a half hour drive from Algonquin Park. Mary Helen and Don are wonderful hosts. Very welcoming and friendly, they are clearly only happy if you're happy. Knowledgeable and in love with the area, they are great guides for their guests. The food is excellent and there's always a coffee, tea or treat offered when you come in the house. I did not explore the maple sugar bush that they work themselves, but they are very excited to give you a tour if you have time. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: I stayed in the upstairs room with an ensuite bath and a lovely view over the meadow. Look for the d...

Thank you for staying with us and for adding so much to our other guests' stay by sharing your wealth of information on the area, especially Algonquin Park. Several windows throughout the house provide wonderful sightings of the wildlife that wanders out of the adjacent forest from time to time.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience staying at this B&B for two nights, during our vacation to Algonquin Park. We rented the two upstairs bedrooms, each of us having a bathroom to themself. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and well-furnished, and our hosts were warm and welcoming. I'm a rather fussy guest, being both sound-sensitive and sensitive to smells, and found little to complain about on both counts. The bedclothes had only a faint floral smell, not enough to bother me. The bedrooms were well-separated, so no noise transference between them, and our hosts downstairs were quiet from about 9pm on.

The only negative I can think of was our window screens, which, on the first night, let in dozens of gnats, although they didn't actually bother us. (The second night was much cooler and comparatively bug-free.)

A high point of our stay was the tour of the sugar bush. It was September so of course maple syrup wasn't being produced at that time, but Don Deakin led us through the forest and pointed out things of interest, and showed us around the sugar shack. Being a nature lover, I liked learning more about the various trees and their ecology, and especially liked hearing about the Red-Tailed Hawk pair that nested in his woods! I appreciated Don's respect for nature and biodiversity and how that informed his management of the woods.

I was charmed by the dog as well, an outdoor farm dog of a herding breed, friendly but not forward, and generally very quiet, barking only to alert the Deakins to something important (e.g. deer in their garden.) She took it upon herself to lead the way when my husband and I went for a walk in the woods after our arrival, even glancing back occasionally to make sure we were keeping up!

The breakfasts were very good, and I also want to thank our hosts for the delicious gifts they sent us on our way with.

Thank you so much for your positive and detailed feedback on your stay with us.

Conducting a maple syrup tour with guests in the summer is a bit of a challenge, so we include an environmental slant which seems to please guests well enough. We are glad you enjoyed it.
Trixie is definitely a treasure to all who meet her. Her protective instincts are particularly in evidence with children as she accompanies guests on their entire tour of the forest even when families venture forth on their own.
We do our best to maintain a smoke free and scent free environment for our visitors. We have these items posted on our website and there are notices in the common areas in the house. We need to post gentle reminders in the bedrooms themselves as perfumes do tend to linger for some time after guests have gone.

We thoroughly enjoyed your visit and hope to see you again in the future.

Don and Mary Helen
