Went with my wife a few weeks ago to the Causey Arch and had an enjoyable Sunday dinner. The pub is quaintly decorated and has a few nooks and crannies.

We were given a friendly greeting when we turned up and the 2 girls who served us were pleasant and helpful throughout. We were peckish so we had starters followed by our lunches which were both very agreeable.

Decent value as well - think we will return.

We have had several enjoyable visits for Sunday lunch, so when walking in the area, with friends, decided to go for lunch on Tuesday. There were only two other people in the place , who had already finished their meals, so only the four of us were waiting to be served. Not exactly busy.
After a much longer wait than expected our meals arrived. The trout salad was was declared as very tasty, however the other three meals were terrible. My wife and I both had burgers, as the Causey is renowned for it's beef. These were rock hard, dry and minus the cheese as described on the menu and were served with quite the worst chips I have tasted in a long while. This poor fare was upstaged by the chicken and leek pie. Which when the pastry was lifted was leak and sauce pie. There was not a single piece of chicken in evidence. The waitress apologised and it was replaced, after quite a wait, and three had finished their meals.
Not an experience we will be repeating!

We went here on our first night and had a wonderful meal. The hosts were very friendly and the food was excellent. This is a relatively busy pub, with plenty of space to enjoy a night out without feeling crowded.

We visited the pub after winning a Sunday lunch and dessert for two in a charity raffle. The pub is beautifully decorated and very cosy with plenty of space and an open fire. The food was superb; you got more than enough and it was delicious! The staff in the Causey Arch were excellent, very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return. Thank you!

Have eaten here twice now, once in the evening and then came back for Sunday lunch the following week. Well worth the drive from South Shields. The atmosphere is lovely , nothing was a problem to the staff and the meals were excellent. Great experience!
