“Fun day”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

What a fun day we had visiting and picking fruit at the farm.
Had ice cream and coffee and bought some vinegars and pickles too. Wish they had more of a farm shop as I would go there all the time to buy fresh produce

“Love this place”
Reviewed 27 October 2013 via mobile

Been here a few times and recently did the Halloween themed day on Saturday. Loved it. The corn maze was fun, got invited to pick corns and were allowed to keep what we'd picked. Fun day out for grown ups and lil people too

“Fresh local produce and tired kids”
Reviewed 28 August 2013 via mobile

Went today and it was really fun as we went late in the season we could only pick a limited variation of fruit (raspberry red and white currents) lovely place very clean staff very polite and helpful
The maze is a bit costly tho £4 adults £4.50 kids we had planned to do it anyway but too many un wanted visitors (wasps) were a menace I take my hat off to the place putting up traps but they are very persistent and in great numbers as a previous review stated insect repellent would help we decided against the maze as the wasps had really put a damper on things as my youngest (2) was quite scared

No fault of the farm tho I might add they couldn't possibly do anything more than they are

Will be going back again

Free to enter pay for what you pick
Or just go for a coffee (recommended)

Thanks to the staff for a great visit

“A simply wonderful afternoon out!!”
Reviewed 22 August 2013

This is absolutely one of those places I have fallen in love with.

I've visited a couple of times this summer on my own with my small child, and we've also visited as a large family group - Great for a tea and cake break, and a wander around picking whatever is in season to wear out little legs! You can subscribe to facebook or email updates about what's good for picking....but in summary strawberries, raspberries, tayberries, red, black, white currants, beans - We also unearthed some carrots and beetroot.

There is a small produce shop which stocks local honey, some picked produce and the most wonderful home-made ice-cream. the only understandable downside is that the sweet edibles attract a multitude of wasps so I do suggest wearing insect repellant (great tip when at a PYO place of any kind rummaging in fruit bushes anyway) and the owners have keenly dotted wasp traps to keep them at bay best they can.

Hendrewennol have simply got it spot on in terms of creating a beautiful space that extends far beyond just being a PYO venue. The addition of a stunning natural playground with hay bales, balancing logs, willow tunnels and sand pit means parents can retreat to a picnic bench with some refreshment while small people indulge in a play adventure. If you are a parent who values experience and play that does not involve plastic fantastic for a change then this place is a gold mine of a find. We spent an hour simply exploring between the fields seeing what wild flowers, fauna and bugs we could spot and my little girl loved the 'animal' themed signage on the different fields. The maize maze is such a simple idea, but inspiring and great fun.

As others mention, plenty of seating and lovely friendly people. Good hand washing and toilet facilities.

It's open late in season which is unusual and a definite plus... and I hope the owners think up a way to keep it open a little further into autumn as I'd really like to visit in different seasons :) I know they have things planned for halloween timed with the pumpkin harvest :)

“Fruit farm frolics......”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

Visited today as a family, with children age 12 and 8. Play area different and lovely with hay bales to climb on and a giant sand pit and balancing logs and a big willow den. Lots of outdoor benches to relax on. Cafe good although a little slow for service despite three staff behind counter. Picked some lovely raspberries and good price too. We went to enjoy the new maize maze. Quite pricey at £4.50 child £4.00 adult (consdiering adults have to accompany children is a bit unfair). On arrival at the maze, we were very impressed with a very large field area covered in maize over 8 foot tall with narrow mud paths in between. Unfortunately after a few minutes my daughter became scared as it was a bit claustrophobic and not knowing how to get out was a bit unnerving. There were no staff to help either. On the back of the leaflet it said to wave the flag if u needed help but we were never given a flag, just an emergency mobile number (in the hope that u may be able to get a signal)! After a few minutes we decided to leave and get a refund. I have to say it looked amazing but can be quite scary for children. It can also take up to three hours to complete anyway. All in all a good afternoon but just a shame the maize wasnt a bit shorter to reassure the children even us adults could get them out!

Having responded to this reviewer on both the Hendrewennol facebook page , and another review site, we'd like to note that flags are always available if requited, mobile phone signal for all major networks was tested before opening, and the help mobile is on at all times, and crucially, the maze isn't a 3 hour marathon.. but generally takes about and 1.5 hours, depending a bit on how many of the games & puzzles you choose to play.

This reviewer was offered a refund, but to date, no other "mazers" have found the maze to tall.
We hope she and her family take up the re-visit, and we look forward to seeing them again soon
