“Great cottage ”
Reviewed 4 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

I don't write many reviews but Marlow Cottage is excellent and we really enjoyed our stay. We visited with our baby and parents, there was plenty of room for us all
and great that we had our own bathrooms and lovely bedrooms with a very comfy
bed! The cot for our baby was made up when we arrived with sheets and blankets and even his own towels! Plenty of towels for us too.
Fresh scones with jam and cream and a cake too for our arrival! Milk, eggs and wine were also left for us. It really is a lovely place to stay, very homely and very well equipped. We all said how nice our stay had been here and would certainly recommend it to family and friends.
Thank you!

“Superb accommodation with great extras”
Reviewed 18 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

My wife Ruth and I have stayed in cottages for may years but this is one of the best ever. It is extremely well equipped, clean and comfortable with an easy to use log burner, superbly comfortable beds, efficient central heating and many extras that are welcome and not commonly found. These include plentiful logs for a weeks stay, staples such as eggs, tea, coffee, milk and a brilliant cream tea awaiting our arrival with scones and a cake that took us a week to get through! The bottle of wine was a lovely touch as was the ready laid fire. Lots of helpful information on the surrounding area and laminated maps that you can borrow for some great walks either from the cottage or a bit further afield. Peter was a source of advice about local pubs/places to eat and went out of his way to make our stay a special one. Our deposit was refunded very promptly. Would absolutely recommend this cottage as a base for this lovely area.

“A Gem in Caldbeck”

We chose Marlowe cottage because of the facilities advertised which were excellent. Althogh it was "high summer" it turned chilly at night and in the morning. The oil fired central heating was easy to use and very effective. A washer dryer allowed us to do a wash as we had arrived from another cottage in the Cotswalds. Two double bedrooms were upstairs and a smaller childrens room downstairs was facinating. The room we chose had a super large comfy bed while we used the other room to park our luggage. However luggage can be easily stowed downstairs. On our arrival the kind owners had left four fresh scones with jam and cream, a large ginger bread, yogurts, milk and eggs, while a bottle of red wine was in the kitchen. We had a great week in Cumbria using Caldbeck as a base for visiting all areas of the Lake District.
The owners dropped in to see how we were and were contactable free via a pay phone in the cottage. We would certainly return to Marlowe cottage in a future holiday.

“Outstanding”
Reviewed 29 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We stayed at the cottage two adults and three kids and had everything that was needed for families with kids. The cottage has been equipped excellently. There was nothing missing. The landlord was very generous with towels, bed sheets, kitchen equipment, games, DVD`s, books, wood for the fireplace and all the rest what you have in a proper family house. The quality of the furniture was very good. We all loved the beautiful view from the rooms and the quietness of the village. The layout of the house gave us moms the chance to come downstairs in the evenings and watch movies while the kids were sleeping upstairs. We also met the landlord Peter, who is a very nice person to speak with. He immediately refunded us the deposit back as soon as we came back from the holiday.

We've been coming here for a few years now and the cottage and surrounding area are just amazing.

The quality of service from the owners and the property itself is unbeatable.

As long as this cottage is available for rent we will continue to come here and stay nowhere else.

It always feels like home from home and if you stay anywhere else you're missing out.

Paul and Wendy

“Stunning!”
Reviewed 23 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We have just returned from celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary in this beautiful cottage. It was the best cottage we have ever stayed in and exceeded all our expectations! We had everything we needed for a relaxing break from start to finish. There was a delicious selection of cakes laid out for our arrival - just what we needed after the journey! Yum! We spent the first evening in the local pub which is a 2 minute walk away, very handy! All the locals were so friendly & welcoming as were the owners of the cottage, they really went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. We spent the following day in Penrith which has lovely shops and is just a 20min car journey. We stocked up on delicious meat from the butchers & had a BBQ in the beautiful garden at the cottage where we watched the sun go down, it was lovely! We did lots of walking around the local area and enjoyed some delicious food in the local cafes & restaurants. It was lovely to go back every night and put the wood burner on in our cosy cottage! There was a huge selection of good DVDs which we made good use of and the whirlpool bath was lovely & relaxing! The beds were very comfy and the robes were a nice touch! All in all it was a really enjoyable, chilled out weekend in luxurious surroundings. We won't hesitate to come back again any time of year! (Would be gorgeous at Christmas) Thank you Marlowe Cottage for making our anniversary extra special!

“Excellent, spacious, high quality furnishing and very comfortable!”

Marlowe Cottage was furnished to a very high standard with every amenity imaginable in the cottage. The two double bedrooms were very spacious with large and very comfortable beds and high quality bed linen. The living room was spacious and more than adequate for a family of four/five. The back patio was well furnished with nice patio tables and chairs and in nice weather would form an excellent spot for a barbeque, with the supplied barbeque set. The kitchen was large and we were very impressed with the range of pots/pans and other cooking appliances and utensils. The drive way had secure gated parking next to the cottage entrance and was just 1 min from the centre of Caldbeck village, which itself had a nice but small selection of pubs, shops and coffee shops and eateries. Overall, Marlowe Cottage was furnished to a very high standard (better than many houses!) and was spacious enough to relax on site with up to 5-6 adults. The free wifi was fast and very reliable. Definitely a place we would be more than happy to visit again!
