If there was ever a reason to listen to trip advisor, it would be this.

We stumbled across this restaurant overlooking the plaza. It looked stunning so we opted to try it out.

Disappointment. Service was poor, totally ignored and then food brought to us (we hadn't even ordered). Grumpy waiter. Food was mediocre in comparison to what we had had previous nights for fraction of the price.

Yes!!!! The view is stunning. Just go here for a drink. Don't eat here.

The Casa vieja is actually quite difficult to find....Since it's a second-floor restaurant, you have to find the door to the stairway, which is right next to a little shop selling ice-cream.The restaurant itself has both indoor and outdoor seating. The latter is actually a very long balcony arcade overlooking the zocalo and the cathedral. At night, it's downright impressive! The menu features local Mayan specialties such as pollo or cochinita pibil, poc chuc, pan de cazon, etc. Service is OK and relatively rapid. Prices are fair but quality is only average. The real reason to eat there is for the view.

We were going to skip this place based on the reviews but a local cafe owner said it was worth a try. It is upstairs by the main square, accessible via the stairs by mcdonalds. The view was spectacular and our server was good. I liked the shrimp ceviche. We both had the house baked pork for the main. It has a sweet beer/honey sauce. It was good, but nothing special. I think the menu could be more livelier. It has some traditional yucatan and other mexican dishes as well as some fusion dishes.

The main reason to come here is the view, which is incredible. Food is good, not great, and slightly overpriced. But seafood is fresh.

Overpriced and salty food. I ordered the fajitas de pollo and it was so small for MX$138, maybe like 20 strips of chicken. My friend ordered the pechuga de pollo casa viejo style and it was very salty!! Overall, I don't like this restaurant - terrible food on a good location. Will never recommend!
