We spent 3 nights here in late August and whilst a little out of the way was well worth the effort in getting there. Giulio and Alice are wonderful hosts and did everything to make us feel very welcome, from a welcome drink, advice on walks and places to visit and eat.

Dinner is fabulous and they prepare and cook the most amazing food which was all very fresh and delicious. Wines are great value and very reasonable. Our room was up in the rafters, very spacious and clean with great views. We also ate in the restaurant in the nearby village of Lama which was absolutely fine. If you have the chance to visit Arezzo please do so as it is really a beautiful town and lovely to potter around for a few hours.

We stayed for two nights at Il Vigno at the end of our little Tuscany trip and it is a truly wonderful place. Nestled in the mountains near Caprese Michelangelo, it is a perfect and quiet lodging, perfect to just chill out and relax or to use as a base point for discovering Tuscany. Alice and Giulio are great hosts, and their property is wonderfully kept. Our room had a separate living area with a kitchen (which we did not use but probably would have had we stayed longer) and a nice good-sized bathroom.
Giulio also recommended one a restaurant in Anghiari (a must visit medieval town a relatively short drive away) which turned out to be one of our favorite meals in Italy.
I was a bit worried after reading people's comments on how difficult it was to find il vigno, but honestly, arm yourself with a decent GPS (I used Waze on my phone and it worked just fine) and you shouldn't have any problems finding it!
Grazie Giulio & Alice! Arrivederci (in Costa Rica???)

Wonderful place! Giulio was a fantastic host and brilliant cook... Very friendly and helpful. The house is beautiful in a fantastic location and the views are stunning. We would highly recommend this place and if you get the opportunity to have the dinner cooked in-house you should.

Stayed at september 4 adult family members. Location is rather remote near the village of Lama. Nevertheless this is an advantage as you get a location with natural views, quite at night with clear skys. we recevived a two floor cottage with a kitchen but did not bother to use it as the landlord arranges fabullous dinners and there is a very authentic restaurant in the nearby village. The hotel was convinient as a base to our daily trips like San Marino, Arrezo and Firenze. A suberb place to feel and embrace Italian Toscany. They even offered us free laundry service so we could refresh clothes after going for hours in roadtrips and endless walking. The steep road was rather enjoyed by us looking into its advantageous side as it is rather safe and not complex to use.

Room Tip: Take a week and just "flow" and relax

We really felt the specific tuscan hospitality! Great owners (Giulio & Alice), delicious food prepared by Alice, large rooms (made by stone and wood) quiet location, very nice view :-) ... good price! I highly recommend it for those who want to be intimate!
