Absolutely fabulous stay at a great place. Quiet restful place, nice physical plant, great staff.
We had the Deluxe cabana with the private pool (more like a hot tub that wasn’t hot). Plenty of room inside, nice bathroom with hand-painted Mexican tiles. No, it is not the 4-seasons, but it is very nice for being out on a rope-fiber plantation in the middle of a nowhere.
Staff were friendly, helpful, attentive without being obsequious. We got there late in the evening on Christmas day, and they were waiting for us. They had our room ready (the room that we had booked and they had confirmed; on this trip we came to learn it is evidently unusual for hotels in the Yucatan to actually have for you the room type that you had booked and that they had confirmed). The kitchen and restaurant staff were waiting to take our order and make dinner (which was delicious).
Gladys at the front desk was terrifically friendly and helpful in the morning.
This is a beautiful resort. Lots of work and thought has gone into the buildings, the plantings, etc.
This is a peaceful beautiful place with great service and good food.
Only two criticisms: (a) the water pressure in the shower was not very good at all. This was odd because there seemed to be plenty of water pressure from the bathroom sink. And (b) they seem to have a little excess capacity in terms of the number of rooms so that the rooms get a bit dusty or get gecko droppings. They seem to make the rooms after a guest checks out, and then probably do just a cursory walk through when they prep the room for the next guest. But sometimes it seems to have been a while in between the former and the latter, so the floors are dusty and there are gecko droppings around.
But these are small criticisms for what is really a special, beautiful place with great staff who really get it.
