“destination restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2014

This place is billed as somewhere Meridanos drive out to for Sunday lunch and it is easy to see why. An authentic atmosphere under a huge palapa style roof, with fans fixed to the beams whirring away. Sitting there in hot midday sunlight it oozed with the feel of small town Mexico. We had a beef and a pork dish, possibly the only time the meat we ate had not been marinated and shredded to pulp. It was so good that we risked a dessert of plums soaked in syrup. It was all tasty, portions were typically generous and prices typically reasonable..

“Great Atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2014

Not many food options in Mani, but you can't go wrong with Tutul-xiu. The menu has lots to choose from, I recommend the Poc-Chuc, it can easily feed two people.

Service was good and english is spoken by most of the staff. Order the lemonade, it's incredible.

“The standard for Yucatan cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2014 via mobile

If you're reading this, you love Mayan ruins . You know Friar Landa. You've rented a car. You already know what Poc Chuc is. You're driving to towards Uxmal and the Ruta Puuc and you need to eat. If love guacamole, Poc chuc, and the whole Yucatan thing, this is the Mecca of food.

Forget Kinnich in Izamal.

This is it. Guacamole better than anywhere else on earth. Fresher , sharper. Combination of citrus and spice plus perfect texture is the standard. This is the picture in the dictionary.

Poc chuc best in town, state and peninsula. Tender, flavorful. Ate at multiple well rated places from Valladolid to Mani, and this is the best.

Friendly, clean. Takes credit cards

Bought their t shirt and wore at ruins, guides were impressed.

If you're in the area, this is a no brainer. Stop and eat

“So good we ate there twice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 November 2013

We were traveling off season a bit and eating at odd hours so were concerned when we arrived at this very large establishment to see no one there. But the food and service were both excellent...so much so that we went a 2nd time. Be sure to ask if you can sit upstairs in the air-conditioned section if you are need of some cool.

“Excellent Yucatecan Food in a Charming Town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 January 2013

Mani is a tiny, charming town with a gorgeous colonial cathedral. The Principe Tutul-xiu is a great place to stop en route. Friendly service, good food, very reasonably priced. All under a big palapa!
