“Fantastic venue”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

We recently went to an event held at the country park inn with Snake Davies and Soul Patrol. The country park has a lovely big room catering for 300 guests. The tables were really well set out and the hot buffet meal was very nice although a little bit on the spicy side for our tastes. The music was fantastic not to mention the atmosphere. Everybody was up dancing. The staff were wonderful, always friendly and helpful. We had also booked a room overnight in the Lodge. This room was fine though nothing particularly special - it wasn't expensive though so we felt it was still good value for money. All in all we felt that the country park put on a great night and catered really well. Purely by coincidence we had been at a retirement event the previous night and although this was a totally different evening it was really well managed too. That night the buffet was fabulous!

Great place for an overnight stop if on your way to the ferry at Hull. Lodges are small but comfortable enough and clean and at £58 per night for the lodge cant really complain. The food served in the Inn itself is excellent and well priced.

We attended a Ball here last year which was fabulous but stayed at a different hotel, this year we were 'lucky' enough to book a room in 'The Lodge' to attend this years Ball...How I wish they had been booked up!!!

This is essentially a pub/restaurant with a large room with bar attached, the sleeping accommodation is sited across a car park in the lodge area. We checked in and were given our keycard for Room 2, whilst walking across the car park there was a very strong smell of drains not sure where this was from but it was horrible. Upon entering the lodge I was surprised to see 4/5 large blue laundry bags stuffed full with dirty linen/towels these were being stored right outside of our room the floor and mismatched furniture in the 'communal area was very worn and the whole feel was one of unkemptness.

Room 2 housed 2 single beds and desk/dressing table with a confrence chair placed under, a mismatched bedside table with a horrendously brown stained lamp and shade the surfaces were dusty and a bit sticky! There was a shelf with tea/coffee making items and some packets of biscuits a tiny wardrobe with 2 hangers, the carpet was heavily patterned and looked to be about 40 years old, I wouldn't have taken my shoes off and walked around in bare feet, the room was dark and made even dingier by the low watt bulbs that were fitted, the en-suite was worse! Dirty cracked and filled stained tiles everywhere with mildew in every crevice the shower tray was filthy and the shower curtain was dirty and stained, every fitting had cracks/marks on them and the (dirty) toilet brush was proudly on display in an open sided holder which was sat on the cistern! The only saving grace for any of it was the bedding was bright white and beautifully ironed. The room was the size of a shoebox just dreadful.

I went to Reception and asked if there were any other rooms availiable the man looked quite
surprised and asked why! He then gave me the key to Room 3 back across the car park in the pouring rain the entry door to the lodge was now stuck fast and couldn't be pushed open I had to open it with force with my hip!

Room 3 was ever so slightly better, larger and brighter still with 2 single beds, despite booking a Double Room, the en-suite was cleaner and not quite so many cracked tiles and there was an actual shower enclosure rather than just a curtain as the toilet roll holder was broken the toilet roll was sat on this cistern rather than a dirty toilet brush, still the same horrible carpet and mismatched furniture the room was ever so cold despite the radiator being on, there was a TV on the wall added I would imagine to bump the room into the year 2013! The rooms do not have telephones so if you needed anything you have to walk over to the main building, not ideal as I found out after showering that there was no iron or board in the room, or in fact anywhere for guest use! Again clean sheets and as I found out later very comfortable beds.

We had to stay as despite ringing several other hotels there were no rooms available within the area. These are not relaxing rooms at all I was in and out of the shower in minutes and put my shoes on to walk around the room so I didn't have to touch the carpet.

The hotel do not serve breakfast at all and to be honest after the appalling meal which was served at the Ball I was thankful! The service was very slow and gravy came out as our table were finishing, beef was served which was very tough and vegetables were cold and hard, in fairness this could have been down to the volume of people who were there and may not be standard in the Resturant area.

There is a very nice view over the water and you area and you are literally under the Humber Bridge on a summers day it would be lovely to sit outside and have a drink.

It is a shame the rooms are so horrible as with modernisation and decorating and some thought being put into facilities (perhaps a communal ironing board and iron that could be stored in the area instead of bags of dirty linen!) these rooms would be perfect to stay in after attending an event at the venue.

I really wasn't expecting much for £40.00 per room but wish I had stayed in The Travelodge and
caught a taxi to the venue.

In my opinion one of the worst places I have stayed and I wouldn't like to repeat the experience! Book elsewhere and get a taxi if you are unfortunate enough to be visiting here.

Room Tip: Do not stay here!! And especially not in room 2 or 3!!

Stopped here for lunch on a very wet day but it was still good to have such a nice view over the water. Typical pub fare but the scampi and chips were lovely and the liver and bacon very tasty. We were served very quickly as we were there early in the day but we noticed quite a queue forming of people ordering food as lunchtime progressed.
I'm sure when the weather is good this is a great place for a drink and meal after a walk along the foreshore or just to sit outside enjoying the view with a coffee.

Take away the fact that this establishment is on the Humber foreshore, and photoshop out the Humber Bridge, and this would be a typical English pub serving food and with rooms to let. And it's a good pub. They serve good beer, most places do, and their pub food is up to standard too. I can't speak to the rooms for an overnight stay, but this is a good enough place for a drink and a quiet meal.

Then add back to the picture the sweeping Humber as it curves around sleepy North Ferriby, and it's foreshore with children and dogs playing, take an outside table, and you get a completely different feeling to a village pub, one of openness, fresh air, breeze even, and scenic views in a summer sunset.

Now throw in that the towering Humber Bridge is maybe 300 meters away, the longest single span bridge in Europe or the Americas, and the scenic view becomes simply stunning. World class. Take a look at the photos to see what I mean.

This is our third time staying here whilst visiting elderly parents.
Yes the rooms are a little small and dated and yes you are next to a car park but look beyond the cars to the great views over the Humber with the magnificent bridge soaring above.
They dont serve breakfast as not open till 10.30/11:00 but eating a picnic breakfast on the benches outside whilst checking my email hooked up to their WiFi is perfect. They also provide extensive tea and coffee making facilities.
Great Country park next door as well.
