“Lovely Harwich B&B”
Reviewed 29 June 2013

Located near Harwich, in a nice village called Ramsey, this is a really lovely B&B. Ed and Anna are very friendly and accommodating, without being intrusive, and it really felt like staying with friends.
The room was spacious and very clean, and the bathroom luxurious. I slept very well, and it was nice and quiet (always a challenge when not staying at home).
The cooked breakfast was delicious every morning, and we had the added bonus of going to see all the animals on the farm.
Thanks very much for a great stay.

Need to be near Harwich?
Stay at this lovely bed and breakfast and enjoy the hospitality of Ed and Anna and a whole lot more. Wonderful location and the welcome was extended to a night out with our hosts too.
The drop off and pick up service was ideal for our cruise. They deserve 5 stars for sharing their home and busy lives and hope that one day can go back again.Vic and Beth

Room Tip: Spacious and clean

Highfields Farm B&B in Ramsey, UK, is a wonderfully restful place to stay
when touring East Anglia. We highly recommend it !
Anna and Ed are magnificent hosts, who instantly make their guests feel welcome
and at ease. Their rural life is 'the good life' and we stayed on an extra day
just to enjoy it. We relaxed for three nights on their five acre farm and were
lucky enough to meet and interact with their numerous farm animals.
We found that their B&B was a great base to explore Essex for miles around
and their local pub 'The Castle' put on great meals in a friendly atmosphere.
Thank you to you both. It was really a memorable three days with you.

Room Tip: All rooms are fine!

Hi you two guys! Thank you for the amazing review. We missed you when you left and we still do. We certainly had some in depth conversations and some big belly laughs! It was just perfect spending time with you - I can't believe I sang to you after getting out of the shower! Too much information perhaps! You are probably sunning it in Italy now, - we wish w were with you. Keep in touch you never know we might be very tempted to come over to Australia - how wonderful would that be. Big hugs and lots of love Anna and Ed xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Highfields Farm is a super place for a pre-cruise overnight stay. My wife and I stayed here recently before embarking on a cruise from the (very) nearby port of Harwich. It's in a lovely location and had the weather been more kind we could have looked around the farm at the various small animals and horses.

We were met by Anna and Ed on arrival and offered tea and cakes, very welcome after a long drive. The rooms are clean and comfortable and ideal to settle in to, there was even a settee in our room, so we settled down for the evening and watched television before retiring to bed. The next morning we were offered a full English breakfast along with a choice of either freshly laid hen or duck eggs - Wonderful!

Ed had previously arranged that we could park our car there for the duration of our cruise (10 days) and that he would run us down to the Port and collect us on our return, all this for an extremely reasonable fee. This turned out to be an excellent arrangement and far better than leaving our car at the cruise terminal. Ed dropped us off with our luggage literally yards from the entrance to the terminal (he know the back roads and pretty much everyone at the terminal as well). On our return we simply rand Ed and he collected us a few minutes later from the same spot as he dropped us off.

We were once again offered tea and cakes before setting off on our journey home.

I would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Both Ed and Anna are lovely people and the farm is a lovely place.

We needed somewhere to stop overnight prior to a 09:00 departure from Harwich the next morning. We discovered Highfields Farm by accident and what a find. We were greeted by Ed with home made scones and jam together with pots of tea and then Anna took us on a tour of the farm including the piglets, horses, hens, dogs and cats. The views from the bedroom were superb and the comfort in bed was equally good. A good nights sleep was followed by a very tasty breakfast and then Ed took us and our luggage to Harwich for the start of our cruise. On return Ed was back at Harwich within minutes of a phone call to return us to our car. As others have mentioned Ed and Anna made us so welcome that we felt, after one night, that we had known them for ages. The only thing that could beat a night with Ed and Anna at Highfields Farm would be two nights. Thanks from Wendy and Alex.

On arrival we were offered tea or coffee with scones and jam,the fresh warm scones were delicious, just what you need after a long drive. There are large acres of land and beautiful scenery and very peaceful. Our bedroom was spacious and very comfortable, overlooking fantastic views. There is a fish pond in the front garden and in the back garden were geese, chickens, ducks, micro pigs and horses roaming around. Ed and Anna made us very welcome right from the time we arrived. Breakfast was delicious with tasty fresh eggs from their own chickens. There is The Stour Wood RSPB just a walk away overlooking the estuary. Harwich is a 9 minute drive away. We would like to thank Anna and Ed for their very kind hospitality and would recommend staying here to anyone.

what a lovely review, thank you so much. It was lovely having you here and even though we live in an amazing place I have to thank you for raising our awareness of the birds that are around - I guess we take them for granted - which thanks to you, we now stop and really appreciate them. The dawn chorus is quite amazing. We are thrilled that you had a great time, a couple of days away can make all the difference and the sun shone too. All our best wishes and hope to see you again one day. Again many thanks for review. Anna and Ed xxx

Ed and Anna, made us welcome from the first minute we walked in the door, nothing was too much trouble, with tea and scones to welcome us. The delicious breakfasts were great, even a vegetarian option. We felt like we were staying with family. the accommodation was perfect and we enjoyed our stay very much, visiting the pigs, Daisy and Bruce was one of the most memorable highlights of my stay, in fact after 6 days it was sad to say goodbye to Ed and Anna .We would highly recommend this B and B,

We enjoyed every moment of your stay, we loved having you here. So glad you felt like we were family - its a shame you had to go! Thanks for the book on the wine, we have read it and let's hope one day it brings us back to your region. You left Australia in 100 degrees and had to bear our bleak midwinter - it's now bursting with spring and full of birdsong and flowers shame you are not here to enjoy it! Daisy and Bruce and have a run in the veg garden they are very happy now the sun is shining. Lots of love Anna and Ed xx Ed will be touch with you later xx
