Staff couldnt have been more helpful and friendly especially hugo and the chief with the nice mum who was also having a meal. Food was delicious with huge portions. The eton mess, dessert, was to die for. Very good value for money. Will def be going back for the chiefs special cheesecake.

Stayed here for few days while in Halstead and the atmosphere was great everyone was so friendly and the landlord was brilliant, really friendly and talkative!! We had breakfast on a couple of the days and it was amazing...done at a time to suit us (as had to go to work early) and was cooked perfectly!
The chef is amazing very creative and makes lovely meals which are priced very well and fill you up.
Overall place is great and defiantly worth a visit

Didn't know the area so looked on tripadvisor and boy did we strike gold. My partner Shaun had the most amazing fish and chips EVER. The batter was so light and crisp and the freshest fish cooked to perfection. I don't know how he did his super chunky chips but they were amazing. I had whitebait which was also perfect. It's lucky I did as I had room to steal some fish and chips from Shaun. The chef is passionate about food and it shows. Apparently he's had no formal training, but who needs it when you're a natural cook. Really friendly Landlord. He's only been there for about 7months and is working hard as you have to these days and is very lucky to have that Chef! They showed us the Christmas menu which looks fab and we'll definitely make the effort to go there then. It isn't a fancy place, it's very unassuming. Has a good selection of local beers. I had the blonde which apparently goes into the beer batter. I do hope the locals will give the place a try. If they do I can see it being rammed to the rafters!

Room Tip: Didn't stay so can't say.

I booked to stay at the White Hart as I was attending a wedding at Heddingham castle. Staff were excellent, very accommodating, they allowed us to check in early which meant we were able to get changed and arrive at wedding ready and refreshed. Room was a good size, bed was comfy, few niggles. Kettle did'nt work annoying, but these things happen just bad luck. Shower seemed to have just two settings scorching hot or luke warm. It was a humid night and the window did not open. On the plus side the staff were very welcoming, breakfast was amazing probably the best b&b breckie I've ever had. I would recommend this b&b.
