I was worried when we first planned the trip but as we got down here I was amazed! Such a beautiful hotel. Our room was so cozy and the people were so friendly, I didn't have to ask for an extra towel once! I will definitely be coming back.

I read the reviews and I was worried, but there is new management and it seems to be making a difference because we didn't experience ANYTHING that the other folks giving the reviews experienced. Our trip was completely delightful and the service was excellent. Janinae in the front office was so sweet and helpful. It's a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle. The internet was free, we didn't have to pay like I read and our hut had everything we needed. If we needed something else, we just asked and they delivered! The beach was beautiful and clean. I would stay again in a heartbeat. The sunsets are absolutely amazing here. We look forward to our next trip!

Room Tip: They have really nice huts right on the beach! All of them are close, even the second row, so you r...

We had a week-long honeymoon in Todos Santos and decided to stay at The Surf Colony, and I’m so glad we did! This is the place to be if you want an amazing mexico experience. In fact for the first whole night we never left the resort. It’s everything you expect in a oceanside resort. The best thing was that we soaked up everything it offered – including the amazing natural setting, the unreal views, beautiful surroundings, and amazing lazy days in the infinity pool. The only downside was the tropical storm which passed directly over the hotel on the 2nd day of our stay. The rain started in the mid afternoon when we were out by the pool and immediately the staff were scurrying around putting the lounge chairs and tables away and clearing out the pool bar. So we left the pool for our room and a couple hours passed when the rain was getting heavier. We were meant to have our dinner at the restaurant that night and weren’t informed that this had changed, as the restaurant was closed for the night. The phone lines were out as well – so we had to feel around the room to where our mobile phones were charged to use them as flashlights. I know it sounds like I’m moaning but in a crisis I should be happy to be alive in such a beautiful place. Overall our experience was outstanding & we enjoyed it. I recommend going, just track the weather.

PROS: The huts are right on the beach. The beach is awesome. The views are beautiful. The surfing is great. Not crowded. Definitely a "get away from it all" kind of place. Feels quite safe. Proximity to Todos Santos is great. Have your own kitchen.

CONS: The service is terrible. The management that we talked to (particularly Nikki) was unfriendly, pretended to not remember us after multiple visits, extremely unhelpful. Our hut was supposed to sleep six... it slept 4 and we had to pay for an extra bed for our 5th companion. We were missing towels, dishes, dish soap, there were lights that didn't work, issues with hot water, and it took quite a while to get the issues resolved. The cell service was non-existent and you have to pay to connect to the internet. Made it really difficult to coordinate any activities in Los Cabos. It's fun to cook for yourself, but beware that there are no markets or stores for miles, so you need to stop before leaving Cabo. The turnoff from the highway is not well marked, so read the directions carefully. Also, the road to the colony is dirt and not well maintained and not well lit, so be careful driving in.

Overall, this place has so much potential, but falls short. If we had been treated better by the staff, my review would be much higher. If you can get some sort of Groupon/LivingSocial deal for this place, it's probably worth it. NOT for full price.

It's a really authentic feeling place that is away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. Don't go here expecting an all-inclusive place, and realize you're still in Mexico and you will enjoy yourself. We had an ocean-front studio suite and although there were a few minor imperfections we loved it. The hut is opened at the front and you can hear the waves as you fall asleep. We ate at the restaurant several times and it was a little pricey but we really enjoyed it. It's a quick drive in to town and we felt completely safe the entire time.

Room Tip: Beach front for sure.

Thank you for your review and for adding the pictures, it is wonderful to see the Surf Colony from the eyes of our guests! We are happy you enjoyed your Cabana, isn't the location amazing? It is so wonderful to be able to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. Please join us again soon, or try one of our other sister resorts close by on Cerritos Beach.

Six friends and I stayed at Cerritos surf colony for a week and a half. Our villas were modest but clean and charming. Each one had a small kitchen to cook our own meals or you could eat by the pool at their restaurant which was really good! The surf was pumping the whole time. Plenty of waves to hold the crowds and board rentals on the beach which are very convenient if you don't feel like traveling with one. I definitely can't wait to go back, it's a perfect quick trip to get away from it all. Highly recommended!!

Well, this was our third visit to the Cerritos Beach area and our second to the Surf Colony. I can be very retentive at times, but also can go with the flow when it benifits me. This is a case of the later. Yes there are bugs and yes the water and power is sometimes lost, but consider this ... these are open air palapas in a relatively isolated beach and town area. With that solitude you must pay a bit of a price. My Father used to tell me when we were going to isolated fishing areas and I complained about the rough journey "if it was a four lane road to get there, we would not have such a great place to fish". This is the case of the Surf Colony. The journey and the conditions hopefully keep the faint of heart away and leave a great opportunity for the rest to enjoy solitude and and wonderful access to an area that is by far the best in Baja. It only requires that the folks relax. Enjoy the fact that there are not people on every corner trying to talk you into free trips and presentations or trying to selling you anything from fruits to nuts. Even the couple of beach vendors will politely walk away when you tell them no.

On this trip we stayed in a beach front two bedroom unit. Easy access to the beach which was 30 feet of grass away. Upstairs master bedroom facing the oceam with sliding glass door AND SCREEN (with no holes) to get the fresh ocean breeze and sound. Each night we sat in lounge chairs just outside our door to watch the sunset or view the vast arays of stars. Yes a few bugs, but I had no issues with them, my wife did have a few, but she REALLY hates bugs anyway. We were given a large fan to help circulate air in our unit, but really spent little time in the unit aside from sleeping or preparing quick meals. We were on vacation, we can watch TV at home. For most dinners we ventured into Todos Santos and found many great places to eat with La Casita and Shut Up Franks being our favorites.

The on site managers were always helpfull and assisted with any needs. Pool area was acceptable and the food and bar was handy when needed. We really enjoyed all that was there and as I said, shined the things that were a bother. We were there to get away from our daily lifes in civilization. The Surf Colony certainly allowed us that opportunity in excess. Can't wait to go back next year !!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Ocean front always is best, but the second row is not that bad and still close to the beach.

This is a wonderful understanding of the kind of resort we are, thank you for sharing your point of view. It is nice to hear the genuine appreciation of the privacy and the 'off the grid' feel that we provide for our guests. You are correct that Cerritos Beach is one of the BEST in the area.
