Description: The Nags Head prides itself on its outstanding Cask Ale Beers and Home made traditional English food at a fair price. At the Nags Head Inn it retains many of its original features with the lounge having beamed ceilings and the bar having a wood burning stove for the colder months.

12th July, very hot day so we went for a walk in Sawley. We have lived in Sawley / Long Eaton for about 38 years but never been in the "Nag's Head", ( not sure why) . We were hot and in need of a cool drink & some food. We had heard some good reports about the food at the Nag's so in we went. The pub is small but full of character, I'm sure the wooden bar with it's carved heads is very old. The staff very helpful & took our order from a menu with a great choice of meals all home cooked at a very reasonable price. The food was of very good standard, great value, will go again soon.

We had just got back from a two week vacation travelling through France and Spain. Had some really nice meals out and some not so nice while away. When we arrived home with work looming we decided to finish our holidays off with a final meal out at our local the Nags. Have been in many times for a drink but never had a meal. What a treat the meals were really tasty I didn't want mine to end!! Would highly recommend anyone to eat there. The staff and locals in there were friendly and the price was a suprise, great value. We shall definatley be eating there again very soon.

Met up with family just for a get together and catch up. Friends had mentioned the Nags was serving good food so we called in. Proper pub inside with character and none of the new building trying to look old rubbish. Good selection of ales. Wychwood was the guest ale which was great for me as I'm a fan!

We had only been seated a short while when when of the staff came across to take the food order. The menu had a good selection and variety to suit most tastes including a good vegetarian selection. Food was delivered in a timely fashion and was of a good standard. Desert followed and certainly delivered on all fronts.

The biggest surprise was a bill for four, two course meals at under £31!! Value for money? Oh yes. To be honest I'd have expected to have paid more like £12 or so each. To sum up, good drinks, good food at an exceptional price in a proper pub. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Visited on a Thursday lunchtime. It was quite busy.

Service was slow, due to how busy it was and only 2 staff outside kitchen.

Nice cask ales available, and the pint I had was very nice.

Had the 'Home cooked steak & ale pie' which was certainly home cooked, with nice pastry and good chunks of meat! I had it with veg and new potatoes which were cooked very well, and gravy. Good value at £4.95.

Would certainly go again but recommend you AVOID THURSDAY LUNCHTIME! As I chatted with staff who stated that they have regular large groups on a Thursday lunchtime.

Unfortunately the group in the bar were a bit loud and the language offensive (not a young group either!! 65+!! and rather tipsy even at 1.30) which spoilt the ambience of the place which has the air of a nice traditional village pub otherwise, with nice flag stone floor, fire, old style furniture etc.

They accept card payments at the bar for food payment etc. On street parking.

Stepped through the door, to a warm old fashioned real pub - not made to look like one. Staff and customers friendly, dogs wandering about and lovely smells of home cooked food and real beers. The menu (we had already eaten) looked really good as did the food as it came out. We are going to eat here next visit - which wont be long as we have just moved to Sawley!
