Description: Greens restaurant & bar is situated on the corner of the historic Wickham square. It is very easy to find and to park. The outside of the property looks traditional, well cared for and inviting. The inside is light & airy with a contemporary feel. Restful colours and wooden blinds add to the ambience. Crisp linen napkins, fresh flowers, friendly professional service and superb fresh food. Everything on the seasonal menus is homemade, using locally sourced produce whenever possible. The secret graden overlooking Wickham water meadows and the river Meon is a superb location in summer for a relaxing lunch. Owners Frank & Carol Duckworth have been running this establishment since 1985 and they are as passionate today as they were when they began trading. Their tag line of 'nothing is too much trouble' is as relevant today as it was in 1985. The menu includes fresh king scallops, mussels, sea bream, Hampshire 21 day aged steaks, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.

Not many restaurants operate like this any more.... demonstrating a high standard of service, attention to detail, producing good quality dishes. I cannot believe this place has been on my list for so long yet last night was the 1st night that I actually visited. I had the Rump of Lamb with Aubergine puree and dauphinoise potatoes, my husband had the Ribeye Surf and Turf with garlic and chilli prawns with triple cooked chips and a to die for peppercorn sauce. The chef here clearly cares about every dish and that came across in the tenderness of the meat, the depth of the sauces and the size of the portions - which were not huge, but equally not tiny. We had the pigeon breast to start with which has an apple and celeriac slaw underneath it with a raspberry/balsamic sauce dotted round the plate.... the flavours were refreshing and light - perfect for a starter. Butter on the table (anyone who knows me will understand this is a big issue for me) - was curled beautifully and at the right temperature for spreading! Yippee - something so many restaurants fail to understand? Lord knows why! The atmosphere was cosy and inviting. We shall most definitely be returning.

Great scallops to start. Some decent Gin choice and service was good. Steak was not the best by a long shot. STP passed the litmus test.

As last time we had returned from the ferry to Portsmouth from Santander and were staying at the nearby caravan site . Both of us were tired and decided to eat out if we could find this restaurant again. We were the first customers in and received a lovely friendly welcome from the lady owner. She showed us to a nice table, lit our candles and gave us plenty of time to study the varied menu. We decided on a bowl of olives to share and the homemade steak pie followed by my favourite bread and butter pudding. All delicious. By the time we had finished the restaurant was quite busy and customers were tucking in to scallops, fish dishes, steaks etc all looking very tasty and well presented. There was a really nice atmosphere throughout with low lighting and table candles and nice decor. Glad we were able to find this restaurant just on the corner of the main square. A very good experience to end the holiday.

Beautiful little sanctuary in the secret garden (sssshhh!) complimented not on my by the setting & birds singing but by the wonderful Jokai (sorry if spelling not correct). Very enchanting, very pleasant, hard-working young man. Nothing is too much bother. Beautiful way to finish our walk on the old railway track & our @guidedogzoe even had a splash in the river. Beautiful day x
