I visit regularly and always enjoy the warm welcome. Reg keeps a great selection of well kept real ales which are constantly changing, I've never had a bad pint.
Fay manages a great kitchen with a wide variety of locally sourced fresh foods. She is always changing the menu for seasonal foods.
I also enjoy the take away pizza and fish and chips.
Since Fay and Reg have been there it's going from strength to strength, in essence the perfect local pub!!

My husband and I recently stayed at the star inn and we recommend it to all we meet . Wonderful evening, freshly cooked food and a great good old fashioned English fry up the next morning . The land lady was very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble .
Rooms were clean freshly laundered bedding and towels greeted us when we entered the b&b room . Highly recommended 5

How this is in the Good Pub Guide is beyond belief. This is one of the worst places I've ever stayed in. The bar was not particularly welcoming and we should have got the message by the fact that it was empty all night. The food was barely average. However, nothing could have prepared us for the accommodation which was in small annexe. The room was dirty, the windows badly fitting, there was cleaning equipment still in the room and the towel had clearly been used by the previous unfortunate guest. Avoid this dump at all costs.

Recently had a birthday party at the star. It was fab, Fay and Reg were absolute stars, they made all my guests feel welcome and everyone really enjoyed themselves. A few of them had a meal and they all enjoyed the food. Ive had nothing but great reports about the pub, food and how well the party went! It was a great evening! If anyone local is looking to have a party at a pub, I would highly recommend the star. They have a big outside seating area, as well as a skittle alley, pool table, dart board, juke box, fruit machine and a touch screen computer with games for everyone to use. Very friendly and welcoming pub that serves good food! Its brand new!!!

We had our wedding here at the beginning of May and it was prefect thanks to Fay(the land lady), her hard work and eye for detail made it more than we could have hoped for. The dining room was laid out beautiful, the food was lovely and it all ran like clockwork. With the open fires burning and the general cosy feel of the building it made for a wonderful welcoming atmosphere and a good time was had by all. ☺

On hot sunny afternoons while everyone else is impersonating lemmings and going to the beach, we enjoy a drive in the beautiful, deserted lanes of Hampshire and Wiltshire, on the lookout for suitable watering holes. How delighted were we to happen upon The Star. A wonderful pub with terrace, spacious bars and friendly and helpful staff. We had the Smoked Salmon and Prawn Salad, which was delicious. Suitably impressed, we went back on a Tuesday evening and had real Fish & Chips. Freshly fried fish, not packaged and reheated! and the best chips for ages. We have made this a bit of a local, although 30 minutes drive away.

I had booked a table for a family get-together, and we arrived around 12.30 as planned. Our order was taken about 1.00, and some of the starters arrived in about 10 mins, the others about 10 mins later. By nearly 2 our mains had not arrived, and none of us was hungry any more. One of the party had had to leave before this for an appointment so could not have his main. Tried to cancel it but the barman said it was in the oven. We said we didn't want ours and he said we'd have to pay anyway - didn't we know salmon took a long time to cook! (we all cook salmon at home and certainly wouldn't want any that had been cooking for an hour!) He offered to put our orders in foil, we accepted the steak (which again he said took a long time to cook!) and paid for the rest, which he said had been discounted, which I doubt. After my niece picked up the steak he shouted 'have a nice day, and don't come back'. He was the only staff member we saw during the hour and a half, so was probably under pressure, but really needs to work on his customer relations.
