“Finally in Safe Hands”
Reviewed 26 May 2014 via mobile

Having lived locally for over 40 years it's so good to see such a fabulous venue back in safe hands. A fantastic team from the top down. Great staff who clearly know their jobs, great food and stunning accommodation and surroundings.
The new owners have clearly invested heavily and deserve every bit of success.

I went to the Bedford Arms for dinner two nights running and was very impressed with everything. The new decor has been thoughtfully done to maintain the charm of the building without losing the character. So many places have become homogenised that you could be staying anywhere.
The food was excellent along with the very professional and experienced staff, made this a special place that we will return to and happily recommend.
Couldn't fault it.

We spent eight nights at the Bedford Arms Hotel and experienced the charm and warmth of a small inn/bed and breakfast. The location is in the beautiful Chess Valley, only 30 minutes from central London. In addition to the tube or train, there is prompt and reasonable cab service if you do not have a car. Peter, the proprietor, and his staff are friendly and provide exceptional service. The newly-remodeled hotel rooms are B&B plush. The food at the Pub is excellent and serves three meals a day. Our room rate included a full English breakfast. Chef Adam is well-trained and offers wonderful selections for lunch and dinner (don’t miss the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert!). The Inn is situated within 800 yards of Chenies Manor (a must see), which dates back to Henry VIII; miles of walking trails (foot paths) surround the Inn. We used the Inn as our base to walk many miles of the Chess Valley trails. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. Laura and Denis V

Room Tip: We stayed in the John Russell room (in the main building) and loved it.

Spent our wedding day here and as it was a low key event we had just booked a table for lunch for twenty people without mentioning it was a wedding. The service was excellent and they couldn't have been more helpful throughout the afternoon. The food was superb and a few of us stayed, the rooms were great and breakfast was good too. Can't speak highly enough about it, the refurbishment looks lovely and it really is a fab venue and we had a perfect day there. Will certainly be visiting more regularly now.

Just a quickie at lunchtime and what a transformation: the old 'public' bar has had had a makeover and looks slightly more modern but without wholesale character removal, the replacement of the car parking at the front with a beer garden is inspired [comfy chairs] and the beer selection is excellent! I had to have 2 drinks, the first a Thatchers Gold ( my fave cider following a Couple of years in Bristol) and then Tring Brewery's Sidepocket. Both were fab and I had to forego an interesting Berkhampstead beer. Well done ~ I'll be back

We loved our stay at Bedford Arms! They went above and beyond the call of duty, and were such wonderful hosts. Aer Lingus left our luggage in San Francisco, and upon learning this, the owner asked if there was any way he could help us. We mentioned that we had no toiletries, and he said his wife could grab some from a local shop. Upon our return to the hotel that night, there was a bag with two toothbrushes (blue and pink), deodorant, toothpaste and a hair brush. That little touch made all the difference, and made a bad situation so much better! The hotel itself is clean, beautiful, and very comfortable, and our breakfasts in the dining room each morning were delicious. We will definitely be recommending Bedford Arms to any friends and family who will be staying in the London area!

I stayed 2 nights at the Bedford Arms, having never stayed before but I will be returning very soon. What an excellent hotel! I found the staff welcoming, the atmosphere engaging and the company of other guests and visitors convivial. The owner introduced himself to me and told me about the changes and I was impressed by his enthusiasm and genuine pleasure in showing me his place.
On both nights my meal was as close to perfect as I think possible and the room was fantastic.
Maybe I spend too many nights in boutique b and bs, so this was special but I recommend you go, have a good time. Enjoy, I did.
