“A perfect Vacation”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

It was an amazing vacation, honestly for the second time I had been there.
A piece of land turned into magic.. to give you that heavenly experience..the creativity , effort and the service,
deserve enormous appreciation.
If you are one among them who loves nature, silence and what is called ,simplicity its best, you would surely love this place.
The homely, efficient cottages, great food, breathtaking view from the tree house are all simply superb..
Be it a time out with your friends, or a family vacation, it serves your purpose of a get away.
The facilitator is a very friendly person, whose the creator of this theme and deserves all the applause.

We did this again, i guess this is my 7th time here and just not had enough of it, our team visited this place on 4th july and had a gala time as usual, the serene beauty, lush green and a slow drizzle to top it off.The food as usual was awesome and Rakesh had his charm to share.

We throughlly enjoyed the trek, the stream close by and the property we stayed, this is a must stay place for everyone once in lifetime, if not visited please do and there will be no regreats.

Overall a great stay and a memory treasured......Santy

Room Tip: Do away with your mobile and laptops and merge with Nature.

This was my second visit to Bethal homestay. This is one of the best weekend getaways from Bangalore. A place with options to adventure, relax and enjoy with great delicacy of food. Simple and clean rooms amidst the beautiful nature. Frequent travellers or trekkers should go there atleast once.

All the reviews here has not been completely honest. Let me share my feedback so that people like me will not be fooled into going there after reading the reviews written.
1) Location is outstanding, but the room is VERY VERY basic. The bathrooms are small and not even cemented properly. The room walls are nothing but made of clothes and mats strewn together. I had a major problem with Bathrooms not being clean.
2) There is no electricity except for a solar bulb at night, which lasts only for a couple of hours at the max. On our first night we heard many sounds from the ceiling tiles (possibly rats), but we did not even have any light to check what it is.
3) Another big disadvantage is you cannot take your own vehicle to this place unless it is a 4x4. That leaves you at the mercy of Rakesh and team to take you around. Rakesh does accommodate most of such requests, but having your own car means you can roam around at your own luxury. We lost one complete day outing because we were ready only by 3pm and all possible tourist attraction were closed as per Rakesh. If we had our car, we could have gone for a ride just around the Nagarhole forest.
4) Once it is dark, there is absolutely nothing to do, unless you are with a Big group and have some activity organised by yourself. Mind you, there is no electricity in the room to even read a book in the night!
5) The food is outstanding but somehow my definition of perfect holiday is a cozy accommodation with decent food. Since the coziness factor is missing, I somehow did not enjoy the food as well.

Hope this review help set the right expectation for people similar to me who travel with kids.

Pleasant weather, Serene Location, beautiful view of Brahmagiri hills, bird chirping sounds, no electricity, no mobile network, yummy food that you never expect in such a place, and a commendable hospitality by Rakesh and team, made our stay in Bethel - one of the most memorable vacations. Do you think anything else is needed for a perfect stress buster?

Rakesh is a very nice person and smart enough to understand the mood and needs of the guests within mins and he gives his best to ensure that the guests leave the place delighted and fulfilled .

I always prefer to explore different places and I generally don't prefer to stay or visit the same place more than once. But, This is one place which is unique by itself and I will visit again with my family.

Special thanks to Rakesh

Thanks

A place in midst of forest, where you get hospitality and food you'll never expect, so outstanding, too good! 10 on 10 for everything, right from those traditional lanterns to the solarized huts, the whole camp is well planned as well as very well maintained, the host mr rakesh will always make you feel home and is one amazing person, all in all a must visit place to visit when in coorg.

We were thinking to go to Coorg from long time and continuously searching for the place. And finally after recommendation from many people decided to go to Bethal Home Stay. But it took almost 4 months to follow up to get desired booking in Bethal. Rakesh is the owner of this place and resident of Bangalore. And as I read about him in other reviews he is exactly same in his behavior and the way entertaining his guests. If you are a kid he becomes mommy & Daddy... if you are young then he makes you to feel like uncles house and if you want to be felt professional he makes you to be comfortable. This was the place where I did not feel like business environment rather it was like home and passion for Rakesh to Run Bethal Home Stay.
About this place: Its good if you have your own car, and if you are travelling from bangalore, then you have opportunity to enjoy almost 10KM of forest area to reach Kutta. You have to cross Nagerhole forest also called Rajiv Gandhi National park. Try to in forest by 6:00 Am which is the opening time , and take slow drive and enjoy the nature sound and wild animals. After crossing Forest you reach Kutta, and I am sure if you are not a excellent driver then you can not drive on the hill to reach Bethal. Best is to give call to Rakesh and he will arrange parking of your car in Kutta and he can take you to Bethal in his Zeep. After reaching there its like deep forest where you can just hear the birds sound and feel Nature and Jungle. Cottages to stay are pretty decent and there is a tree house also. If you are just 2 then take tree house... you can enjoy the nature much more from there and the beautiful scenes. You have very good homely food which you want to keep on eating... and bon-fire and tasty snacks in the evening.Rakesh does takes care of Veg & Non-Veg fans:) you need not to mention any thing, you will get tasty equivalent of non-veg in veg items:p. There is Irupu fall- must visit, one paap nashini river in kerala border -Waynad and river rafting in Kutta. And last but not least the dark night at Betahl - seams to be scary but you will see some scenes and feeling that you can not capture in camera or video recording...yes it is about stars and fireflies. It will look like fairy-tail story..... and little bit of scary jungle experience if its raining in the night and you are on tree house... and finally some pretty birds comes inside your house take shelter from rain which you think something else and do not dare to open your eyes to see what it is and keep on waiting for morning when it is your first night at tree house.

Overall, Bethal is a good place to stay, must go, and Rakesh is very humble, kind and very good story telling skills and keeps you entertaining and make you feel comfortable.
