I had been to this resort and its one of the best in the forest region of Karnataka where i had been so far. If u want to experience nature, its Machaan. Rooms were so comfortable and clean. It was drizzling the day we were and that added to its beauty. Staffs were friendly and ready for help. Food is in buffet system and worth tasty. Its within the greenery. The only disadvantage is that its path when u r almost reaching the resort (after taking diversion from road and get into a passage type) may make ur car tyre punture, it happened for me though i travelled by Innova (May be that was my bad luck), but better that travellers be cautious about it. But overall I would recommend this resort and if i get an opportunity to visit Nagarahole, my option will only be Machaan.

We had been to machaan in the month of december 2012. The resort manager is Mr.Basil, a very helpful guy. A good company for bird watchers. The property is a small but a decent coffee estate. The best part was that only 4 cottages were there and you get your space and
privacy at its best. The food was simple tasty and fresh. since all cottages were near by we had a good time near the bonfire accompanied by other 2 families. Next day morning we walked to the man made water hole nearby. If you insist, they take you for a coracle ride in the small pond, you can pick water lilies. There is nothing much to do or to get excited about, if you just want to be with the nature and away from all disturbances this is a good place. They were talking about building more cottages, then it will be like this property minus (-)
the peace of mind that i was talking about. I wish they had not build any more cottages. It is not that big so that you get lost and not that small so that you cant enjoy loneliness.

Good: The place is located about a half hour drive from the Nagarahole park while coming from Coorg side so it is an ideal stopover after Nagarahole. This is located amidst coffee & pepper plantations that gives it a very nice location. The cicadas keep the jungle setting alive with their sounds from afternoon till evening. The bungalows look like some houses kept intact from a village countryside giving it a rustic feel. There is a small lake nearby filled with lotuses, this place looks awesome in evening & early morning. There is a watchtower & some coracles lying around. We did see a bison / wild buffalo in the distance from the lake. Rooms are maintained well enough, but there is the problem of power cuts. They did provide us with rechargeable lanterns in case of no backup power. Food was decent buffet fare & nothing to complain about. Staff was welcoming & helpful.
Negatives: The approach road of about 1km from the main road was very bad & paved with stones. No proper road actually. Lots of lizards in the rooms, esp in the fireplace section of the bungalow.

Room Tip: The Churicad bungalow is suited for 2-3 families or a group of people. Better to choose individual r...

1. Great Hospitality / Service - By Manager Basil, Staffs - Vishnu & Pemmiah
2. Amazing Food - Cook from Orissa prepared yummy dishes for us. We had the opportunity to give candid feedback about the food after every meal.
3. Exciting places to visit - Wildlife Safari, Iruppu Waterfalls, Spice Garden, Lake are some of the interesting places to visit.
4. Environment - Location is so good with the rooms being so neat, surrounded by amazing scenic beauty.
5. Nature Lover - Totally out of world experience as you are detached from Technology and more attached to the Nature.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Machaan, Nagarhole. Will definitely visit again with Family and Friends !!

I and my group of friends visited machaan resort on 13th sept, 2013. it was an awesome experience. We travelled by car through the nagarhole jungle. Make sure you reach the gate before 6pm as they dont allow cars after that. The drive through the jungle is very pleasant as u can spot deers, elephant and bison etc. About the resort, the rooms are very well maintained and food tastes like homemade food. Vishnu took care of us very well. you can also visit nearby placses such as irrupu falls and waynard jungle.

This is an average property, we stayed here for two days. The rooms are clean and are well maintained . The resort is in midst of a coffee estate and is very peaceful. The food is average , the staff out there try and help you in every manner to make your stay comfortable . We went out on a night Safari could not spot any thing other than deer. Next day early morning we visited the national park which was 30 min drive from the resort for a Safari and we were fortunate to spot a tiger :) The best part is the drive through the jungle , the roads are not that good but helps you to spot some wild animals, rare birds..!!

I booked the resort for a 4 day holiday by just reading the blogs and forums. I was not at all disappointed. I went with my wife and 2 children (5 years and 1 year). The reception was fantastic. Basil is a gem of a guy and how much ever you talk about him is less. Vishnu is an amazing guy who helps you just as he is helping his furst ever customer. He has same energy levels for apparently years..

If you are keen on a hectic holiday with loads of activities, this is not the place for you. This place is cut-off from the civilization almost literally. We had to drive 40kms in Nagarhole National Park (with loads of wild animals crossing your path and this tells you dont waste your money on safari here as you get it free of cost). We didnt have the mobile phone connection, TV nor newspaper.

There is a small lake with carokal in it and Basil would take you for a trek through the estate. If you are an avid nature lover, or a photographer, you would love that 2 hour trek.

If you are keen to go out and have some activities, there are Dubare Elephant park, Nisargadhama, Budhist Temple, etc which are relatively closer. Basil also took us to a nearby spice garden which again is out of the world. I dont think anyone can come as clos to nature as they would in this stay.

Bottomline, if you are a nature lover and loves tranquility, peace and serenity and may be come back with a poem, this is the place. Else, you would be hell bored.

Room Tip: remind them often to clean up the room if you have kids...else they would do once a day
